This Indigenous Peoples Day, meet an activist from Kenya Indigenous Youth Network, an organization we are proud to support, as he fights for the rights of Indigenous people in his community. Today and everyday, we proudly assert that Indigenous Rights are human rights!

We are horrified by the news of the devastating gang attack in Haiti. The Haitian people deserve safety, and a democratic government that will safeguard their human rights. We stand in solidarity with those living through this horror, and are proud to support grassroots organizations fighting for peace and security.

BREAKING: Thailand’s landmark marriage equality bill was officially written into law as of today! We applaud the LGBTQI+ rights activists who worked for years to make this happen. AJWS is proud to have supported this movement, and we will be cheering on the couples who begin to wed in January of next year. Love wins!

Justice and accountability are essential in addressing human rights abuses. This has not happened in Nicaragua, particularly for the tens of thousands of Nicaraguans living in exile in the wake of the Ortega-Murillo’s brutal crackdown on civil society that began in 2018. This groundbreaking report, supported by AJWS, addresses the situation:
For Nicaraguans who have fled the Ortega-Murillo regime’s brutal crackdown since 2018, the human rights abuses did not end when they crossed the border. They have not received justice for the atrocities they faced that caused them to live in exile. And the abuse continues through state surveillance. Their family members remaining in the country face retaliation through denial of health care and government services. My colleagues have supported groundbreaking work on the quest for transitional justice through this excellent report- click below to read the executive summary. https://lnkd.in/e7wrVqUJ

We believe that reproductive rights are human rights, which is why we stand with activists in the Dominican Republic in speaking out against keeping the country’s total abortion ban. Rosalba Karina Díaz, from the AJWS-supported group Dominican Community of Leadership and Inclusive Spaces, shared passionately in this article that the criminalization of abortion in the DR would increase the discrimination that women, girls and LGBTQI+ people already face.

Our President and CEO shares a powerful call to action to live our Jewish values of justice and equity, for our own community and the world. Read this piece in partnership with The Forward:
As Jews, our foundational values are equity and justice. The heartbreak of our community—and the world—over the last few months requires that we speak up for ourselves but not only ourselves. I’m proud to share my thoughts on this moment as part of this powerful series in partnership with The Forward.
