Amerigroup was honored to be the Diamond Sponsor for the Joy Inside Tears Suicide Support event on September 7 in LaGrange, GA. The beautiful water fountain illuminated in purple and turquoise set a reflective tone for Suicide Prevention Month. This year's focus on paternal mental health was highlighted by the impactful Stroller Stroll, emphasizing that 1 in 5 moms and 1 in 10 dads face mental health challenges. Alongside our co-sponsor, Biogen, we stressed the importance of mental health support. The event featured resources from Wellstar Hospital, DBHDD, and Omega Psi Phi fraternity, with activities like coping stations, face painting, and inspiring speakers. Our decorated table offered info on Amerigroup Medicaid and Georgia Pathways, along with exercise bags and anxiety-reducing bubbles for kids. As a token of appreciation, Amerigroup received a crystal award and speaking time. Improving maternal health outcomes goes beyond access to care – it’s about building community supports that uplift and empower moms. That’s why the Amerigroup Foundation invested over $1.7M in Morehouse School of Medicine’s Perinatal Patient Navigator program. This initiative trains local women as health navigators, doulas, and lactation specialists to work alongside doctors and healthcare teams, with a focus on Black moms and underserved communities where disparities are greatest. Since its launch, the program has deployed trained professionals in communities across Georgia to provide essential support and advocacy for moms throughout their pregnancy journey. By training local women for these roles, the program not only improves maternal health outcomes but also promotes workforce development and creates job opportunities. What an unforgettable day at our recent annual Back-to-School Bash at the Riverside Epicenter in Austell! A huge thank you to all the wonderful Cobb County families that came out and made this event so special. Attendees had a blast rock climbing, bowling, and enjoying a variety of games and fun activities, but the highlight of the day: giving out over 1,000 backpacks filled with essential school supplies! At Amerigroup, it’s our mission to support the whole health of our communities. We know that health and education go hand in hand, so we want to ensure families start the school year strong.
