We're delighted about the prospect of partnering with Southeastern Public Service Authority and its member communities to cost-effectively process the region's waste. We see the success of our operations in Portsmouth as a blueprint for SPSA and municipalities looking to extend the life of their landfills and reach ambitious diversion targets. The economic and environmental opportunity in extracting value from the municipal solid waste stream is significant, and we look forward to delivering on that promise in South Hampton Roads. https://lnkd.in/dN2UkS_B

The #waste and #recycling industry has long sought solutions to increase landfill diversion. Recycling rates have plateaued, and even started to decline, over the last decade and half. Even in many places with recycling programs, the majority of recyclables never even enter the recycling stream. But advancements in sorting can change the trajectory of recycling rates, and we worked with Business Insider to showcase what's happening in next-generation facilities powered by #AI and #automation. Check it out! https://lnkd.in/gf-y2wSe

Our AMP ONE™ system, operating since 2023 in Portsmouth, Virginia, extracts mixed recyclables and organic material from municipal solid waste. Equipped with this system, the Portsmouth transfer station in which it's operating is capable of diverting more than 60 percent of landfill-bound material for further processing with organics management and mixed recyclables sorting systems. MSW diversion meaningfully extends the life of landfills, reduces their environmental impact, and keeps disposal costs low.

With more than 30 federal scientific laboratories, multiple research universities, and a robust startup scene, Colorado has emerged as a #cleantech hot spot. The Centennial State ranks fourth in the nation in cleantech job concentration and eighth in cleantech #venturecapital investment, according to Colorado Cleantech. The latest issue of Colorado School of Mines Magazine profiles several alumni, including Senior Mechanical Engineer Kevin Ehlmann, about their decision to pursue a career in this fast-growing field. For Kevin, his job is the perfect blend of hands-on troubleshooting, research and development and computational analysis—and he likes that he’s able to use his engineering skillset to do something beneficial for society and the planet. https://lnkd.in/g8QQnmzV
