Anthemis is an asset management platform that invests in and supports pre-seed to growth stage companies that embed finance in their products, services and operations.
We had a packed house last night for our 'Crossing the Pond' event in partnership with Jordynn Johnson-Knoops from Deel and Tori. Hanson from The Knowledge Shop at our NYC Silicon Valley Bank office overlooking Bryant Park.
A huge thank you to our esteemed investors Arjun Kapur from Left Lane Capital, Zehra Naqvi from Headline, Sherrise Pond from Anthemis Group, and Pearce Dolan from Deel for joining me for a panel discussion on how to fundraise and sell in the US.
Lastly, congrats to our startups for participating in our pitch competition! So many amazing international founders in the room across a variety of sectors making their way and navigating the US market! 👏

Congratulations to Anthemis portfolio company, the European cyber insurance startup Stoïk for closing their €25 million Series B funding round.
Stoïk offers a cyber insurance product specifically designed for SMEs with annual turnover of €750 million or less. Once insured by Stoïk, if a company needs to halt production or temporarily close due to a cyber incident, Stoïk can compensate for loss of revenue during that period.
Congrats to Jules Veyrat and the entire Stoik team on this fantastic achievement!

Beyond Investing: Early-Stage Founder Hours and Student Workshop
We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring our first Beyond Investing event to Leeds in partnership with Nexus Leeds at the University of Leeds and FinTech North on Monday 4th November.
Through our Beyond Investing programme we aim to contribute to developing the next cohort of potential growth stage fintechs throughout the North of England, whilst also nurturing a strong pipeline of regional talent for the fintech sector.
The day will be split into two halves, with the morning focussing on educating students through a series of panel discussions with NatWest Group, Barclays, Peel Hunt, Mastercard, Border To Coast Pensions Partnership, Ada Ventures and the FGF Advisory Board, on what a career in fintech and/or investment looks like, as well as current trends and themes across the fintech industry and the importance of DE&I within VC.
The afternoon session will be targeted towards early-stage fintech founders participating in a series of 20-minute small-group workshops with White & Case LLP, Outward VC, Praetura Ventures, Anthemis Group, alongside others, for bespoke advice and guidance on topics such as successful financial planning, building lasting growth whilst scaling, working in partnership with FIs, and legal support, as well as the opportunity for reverse pitching.

In 2007, Amy Nauiokas saw what most people missed:
the future of financial services was shifting.
Fast forward a decade, and she was among the first to spot the multi-billion-dollar opportunity in #fintech before “fintech” was even a buzzword.
How did she get there?
By creating new systems instead of sticking to old ones.
Here are 3 key lessons from Amy’s journey building Anthemis Group that any Fintech founder or business leader can learn from:
1. Be ahead of the curve.
Amy saw the opportunity for digital transformation in finance long before it was mainstream. Those who embrace technology early can create multi-billion dollar markets others aren’t even thinking about yet.
2. Invest in diversity for long-term growth.
Amy faced doubts about whether there were “enough women and people of color” to invest in. Now, 50% of her portfolio is founded by women or people of color, and this diversity fuels innovation and outsized returns in her investments.
3. Collaboration beats competition.
Instead of fighting traditional financial players, Amy built Anthemis Group on collaboration—working across regulators, banks, and startups. The result? A $1.1 billion asset management platform fostering some of the biggest names in fintech like Betterment, Carta, and eToro.
Want to scale your FinTech?
Think beyond the traditional models.
Build for the future like Amy did, and you’ll be at the forefront of the next financial revolution.
Want to learn Amy’s playbook?
I'm excited to announce Amy is joining us for an exclusive fireside chat during the Fintech Feminists official launch party on Oct 22 in NYC. 🔥

Last week, UBS officially launched the UBS Female Founder Award 2024 & Anthemis founder Amy Nauiokas was there to help kick-off the opening ceremony with some words of wisdom!
In her remarks, Amy noted that “Being a female founder is a job that takes bravery, a lot of hard work, and high levels of conviction and passion, and that you need to surround yourself with advocates that will lift you up”.
Last year, Ana Mahony Mahoney, CEO of Addition Wealth (an Anthemis portfolio company) was the winner, and we are proud to support UBS as they launch the award in 2024.
The winner of the UBS Female Founder Award 2024 will receive USD 10,000 for her business or personal founder journey and will gain the opportunity to join the 2025 cohort of the UBS Project Female Founder.
