Welcome to the Orlando Metro Section! We are a division of the Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association.

About us

The Orlando Metro section is in Central Florida, and includes five counties: Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter. The Orlando Metro Section of APA Florida is composed of local planners, architects, city and county officials and others interested in the planning profession. We also encourage students and elected or appointed officials to join our organization.

This year is the inaugural OMS 2024 Awards, honoring excellence and achievement in the Orlando Metro Section. We are thrilled to introduce three categories.  Project of the Year: We recognize a remarkable project that has made a significant impact on a local community in our section. Planner of the Year: Celebrating an individual who has done extraordinary planning work throughout the year.  Student Project of the Year: Highlighting the ingenuity and creativity of a student-led initiative.

  • The deadline to submit your nomination(s) for the inaugural OMS Awards has been extended to Friday, Nov. 8.  As a reminder, we will hand out the awards during our annual holiday party and hope to make it a recurring event!  The Award categories: Project of the Year: Recognizing a remarkable project that has made a significant impact in a local community in our section.     We had a wonderful AICP Prep Workshop yesterday in Leesburg. The event was sponsored by LPG. A huge thank you to the City of Leesburg for providing a great venue. I would like to thank all of our speakers and attendees. This event was a small group making it particularly fun to hear from attendees. There are still a few weeks left to prep for the FALL AICP Test. We wish all test takers luck the Fall exam.
