🔋🔥 When it comes to the garbage or recycling cart, remove lithium-ion batteries from the equation. These rechargeable batteries—the type found in smartphones, laptops, e-cigarettes, power tools, and more—can overheat and cause fires. When a fire breaks out on a garbage or recycling truck, the driver must quickly empty the vehicle's contents onto the roadway to reduce the chances of injury and damage. It's a hot mess! Help protect our waste collection workers and the environment by properly disposing of lithium-ion batteries. Find a convenient battery disposal location at Call2Recycle.org/locator. You can also bring them to an Orange County household hazardous waste facility. See details at www.ocfl.net/HHW.

🎨 Now on display: Son of the City—the Art of Paul Columbus. Paul is a self-taught inter-disciplinary artist who gets most of his inspiration in life itself. "I paint in-part to pay tribute to my father, with every creation I pay tribute to him, and carry on his legacy to 'Live with Love.'" The exhibit will be on display in the Orange County Administration Building in the Board of County Commissioners Chambers Gallery through September 19, 2024.

Celebrate all things Parks & Rec this month with us! While many of Orange County’s parks offer something special for little ones, let’s spotlight a few sites that offer extra family fun. ✨ Hit the trails - Immerse your little one in nature’s wonders as you explore winding trails. Remember, trails like Cady Way and Little Econ Greenway offer smoother, stroller-friendly paths. ✨ Nature’s Pollinators – Fluttering butterflies and buzzing bees in their natural habitat will delight tots at Magnolia Park and West Orange Trail. ✨ Playground Fun – Most Orange County parks offer shady “Tot Lots” with bucket swings and carefree play for kids; and a place for mom and dad to beat the heat.
