Our team took a day to focus on what matters most - our pets and each other! 🐾❤️ Yesterday, we closed to the public for a special staff outing. We spent time walking our furry friends, organizing playgroups, and pitching in on daily volunteer duties (thank you volunteers for everything you do). Then we got creative decorating APA-themed cookies 🍪 before attending a mental health presentation. Caring for ourselves helps us better care for our animals. It was a day filled with teamwork, learning, and joy! #WeAreAPA

At the APA, our team is always looking for opportunities to learn from others in the animal welfare field to ensure we continue providing innovative, best-in-class care. This week, several members of our team attended the Midwest Animal Sheltering Conference, hosted by the Missouri Coalition of Animal Care Organizations, where they had the chance to network and learn alongside regional animal welfare professionals, including those from Humane Society of Missouri, Belleville Area Humane Society, Jefferson County Animal Control, Missouri, City of St. Charles Animal Shelter, City of Warrenton Animal Control and Wentzville Animal Care and Control. We are grateful for our colleagues and partners who share our passion for providing the best possible care for animals in our community. Through collaboration and continuous learning, we can save more lives and deliver the compassionate care that all animals deserve.

Our partners at BISSELL Pet Foundation have asked for our help with an animal shelter in Marshall, North Carolina, a town that was hit hard by Tropical Storm Helene. We are taking action to assist over a dozen pets by relocating them to APA Brentwood. They will soon be ready for adoption.   While we always prioritize animals in our community, we're committed to doing everything we can to support the animals and shelters impacted by this disaster. Every animal deserves safety and care, especially during such challenging circumstances. We're grateful for our partnership with BISSELL Pet Foundation, which allows us to extend our reach and make a difference in the lives of these displaced pets. ❤️🐾   Our hearts go out to the people and pets affected by Tropical Storm Helene.
