You are cordially invited to the three sessions focusing on advancing agricultural monitoring through remote sensing. 🛰️ Climate change and increasing climate variability have posed significant challenges to food security, especially given the continuously growing global population. A more comprehensive understanding of agricultural system dynamics and their responses to climatic and environmental changes is urgently needed. Recent advances in remote sensing technologies have led to the emergence of new satellite missions and agriculture-related datasets of diverse spatial, temporal, and spectral resolutions. The development of improved modeling capabilities (e.g., artificial intelligence (AI) models, process-based models, and hybrid models) have further enabled unprecedented insights into the dynamics of natural and human-induced processes in agricultural systems. These advancements facilitate the assessment of the impacts of climate change and human activities on agriculture (e.g., changes in land use dynamics, crop phenology, crop yield) towards more sustainable and resilient farming. This session aims to highlight the recent advances of remote sensing in improving crop productivity, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, understanding the interactions between climate change and farming systems, and optimizing agricultural management for resilience against climate variability.
