Arabana Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (ICN 7729) administers lands and waters on behalf of the Arabana people.

About us

Our tribal name is Ngurabanna, the land of the mound springs. Mound springs are precious water holes that spread far and wide across our Country. The springs are central to our culture, and they help sustain life in our beautiful, dessert lands. In 2012 we decided to call our organisation Arabana, which means Sturt Desert Pea, the unique flower that blossoms in the Arabana desert after winter rains. In 2012 we were granted Native Title to over 69000 square kilometres of Australia, in recognition of our ancient and ongoing connection to Ngurabanna Country. The Arabana Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (ICN 7729) is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate that administers lands and waters on behalf of the Arabana people. The Arabana Aboriginal Corporation is governed by a Board of Directors. There are currently 12 members of the Board of Directors. Updates

  • This morning we visited the Arabana Warli site again at Ausco, and it’s coming along beautifully! The building is shaping up well, and we're on track for what’s ahead. We’re set for the final inspection with the building inspector end of January/beginning of February, with plans to transport the buildings to Marree in the second week of February. This is a huge step forward for us, and it’s exciting to see it all coming together. Once completed, Arabana Warli will be more than just a place to stay, it’s going to be a space where Arabana Elders, families, and community can come together, share stories, and reconnect with Country. It’ll also be a hub for knowledge sharing, workshops, and cultural activities. We’re looking forward to seeing this vision turn into a reality, and we’re thankful for everyone who has supported us along the way with special thanks to BHP, Ahrens and Ausco Modular. Stay tuned for more updates as we move closer to completing this important project for our people! #ArabanaWarli #CommunityHub #CulturalConnection #OnCountry #BuildingOurFuture #IndigenousHeritage #ArabanaAboriginalCorporation #OurCountryOurPeople #Marree #ProgressUpdate

  • It’s great to see Arabana language highlighted in the Indigenous Literacy Foundation's Community Publishing program! They’ve recently published 126 titles across 36 Indigenous languages, including Arabana in South Australia. It’s inspiring to see our language alongside so many others, each one a vital thread in the fabric of Indigenous culture. At Arabana Aboriginal Corporation, we’re focused on keeping Arabana Wangka (language) strong and alive through projects like Wardu and Wadni, the annual Arabana Ngura (camp), and various knowledge sharing workshops, where we work to pass on the language to the next generation. It’s exciting to see others in the community also dedicated to language preservation, and we look forward to more collaborations that amplify our voices and stories. Together, we’re building a future where our languages continue to thrive. #ArabanaCulture #LanguageRevitalisation #IndigenousHeritage #CulturalPreservation #ArabanaAboriginalCorporation #IndigenousLanguages #Empowerment #CommunityStrength #OurCountryOurPeople

Through the Community Publishing program, we have published 126 separate titles reflecting up to 36 Indigenous languages: from Walmajarri in the Kimberley region to Arabana in South Australia, Kriol in the Katherine region, and Tiwi in the Tiwi Islands.

  • Arabana Warli Construction Progress Update 🏗️ On Friday afternoon we visited the Arabana Warli (house) construction site at Ausco, and we're excited to share the progress! The building is coming together beautifully, and everything is on track to meet our timeline. We’re scheduled for an inspection with the building inspector on 31 January, and the next big step will be transporting the building to Marree in the second week of February. This marks a major milestone as we work toward completing this vital project for our community. The Arabana Warli will not only provide much needed accommodation for Arabana Elders and families to return and reconnect with Country, but it will also serve as a community and cultural hub for knowledge sharing, workshops, and cultural activities. We'll be making a second visit on 20 January to check on the final stages of the construction, and we look forward to sharing more photos and updates as we get closer to completion. Exciting times ahead as we move closer to turning this vision into a reality for our community! We are grateful for the continued support and collaboration that is helping us bring Arabana Warli to life. • Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2025: The Next Generation 🌟 As we look forward to NAIDOC Week 2025, we are inspired by this year’s theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy”. This theme couldn’t align better with the work we’re doing at Arabana Aboriginal Corporation. At AAC, we have committed to empowering our youth and ensuring the wisdom of our Elders continues to guide us. Some of our projects in 2025, including “Returning to Country: Revitalising Arabana Culture Knowledge Sharing Workshops”, the "Wardu and Wadni Language Development Project", and the annual "Arabana Ngura (Camp)", as well as researching the possibility of a Junior Ranger Program, are focused on knowledge sharing, language revitalisation, and creating opportunities for future leaders within the Arabana community. Through workshops, storytelling, and language development, we’re actively ensuring that our younger generation is connected to their heritage, culture, and language. Just as NAIDOC Week 2025 celebrates the strength and vision of our young people, we too are working to pass on knowledge and create pathways for leadership, giving our youth the tools they need to blaze their own trails. This year’s NAIDOC Week is a powerful reminder of the potential within our young people, and we are proud to be part of shaping a bright future for the Arabana community. national naidoc NAIDOC South Australia #NAIDOC2025 #TheNextGeneration #IndigenousLeadership #StrengthVisionLegacy #EmpoweringYouth #ArabanaCulture #KnowledgeSharing #WangkaRevitalisation #ArabanaAboriginalCorporation #IndigenousHeritage #OurCountryOurPeople

  • 2025: Bringing Arabana Culture, Language & Our Youth Together! 2024 was big, but 2025 will be bigger! We’ll be launching new projects focused on keeping Arabana culture and language strong. With funding secured, these projects will bring our community together to pass down knowledge from our Elders to the next generation. 1. Returning to Country: Revitalising Arabana Culture Thanks to DHS Social Impact Funding, we’re excited to launch our “Returning to Country” project coinciding with the opening of our Arabana Warli (house) in Marree. Through several workshops and storytelling sessions in Marree, we’ll share our Arabana traditions and language, ensuring our culture stays strong. We’ll also explore how Arabana culture can be integrated into outback tourism, including creating immersive signage to showcase our deep connection to this land. 2. Wardu and Wadni: Revitalising Arabana Wangka Led by Veronica Arbon, this project focuses on bringing Arabana language (Wangka) to life through song and movement. We’ll be hosting two gatherings in Port Augusta, where our kids (Wardu) and families will learn Arabana songs. Videos of the kids singing and dancing will be shared on our YouTube channel, alongside a book with QR codes linking to the videos to keep the learning going. These projects are vital for preserving Arabana identity and passing on our language and culture to future generations. Read more about the projects on our website: https://lnkd.in/g3ARGjp7 A big thank you to the Department for Education, South Australia and Department of Human Services SA for their support. Stay tuned for updates! #ArabanaCulture #LanguageRevitalisation #YouthEngagement #CulturalPreservation #IndigenousHeritage #ArabanaAboriginalCorporation #EmpoweringYouth #Wangka #IndigenousLanguage #FutureGenerations #CommunityStrength

  • Support the Arabana Warli Accommodation & Returning to Country Project – A Meaningful Investment Opportunity! Arabana Aboriginal Corporation is excited to share the development of Arabana Warli (house), a new accommodation and community gathering space in Marree, SA, designed to provide a space for Arabana elders and families to reconnect and return to their Country. This building will serve not only as accommodation but also as a community and cultural gathering place. It will be a hub for knowledge sharing workshops, ranger gatherings, minister visits, and youth engagement activities such as language learning and student workshops. However, the building is still under construction, and we would greatly appreciate support in making this important project a reality. We’re seeking funding and in-kind support for essential furniture, linen, whitegoods, homewares, and equipment, including compliant furniture for our ambulant/disability accommodation room. This room will provide necessary access and facilities for individuals with disabilities, ensuring everyone can stay comfortably. While Arabana Warli is being constructed and set to be completed by March 2025, it presents a unique opportunity for businesses to get involved in a long-term social investment. Companies can contribute to the development of a cultural landmark while benefiting from brand exposure and being part of a meaningful partnership that strengthens communities and supports Indigenous heritage. Beyond accommodation, Arabana Warli will be available for commercial hire, offering space for events, seminars, workshops, and educational camps. Its location in Marree, a seasonal thriving tourism hub at the start of the Oodnadatta and Birdsville Tracks, makes it an ideal venue for both community and tourism related activities. Marree maybe remote, but it's home to a strong, welcoming residential community, and its location as a key destination for 4WD, motorcycle groups, and outback tourism makes it an exciting and strategic site for businesses looking to make a difference. By supporting Arabana Warli, you will be helping us create a place for the Arabana people to return and remain connected to Country, engage in cultural activities, and contribute to the ongoing development of Marree. We invite businesses and large companies to get involved and become key partners in this exciting project. If you're interested in supporting the project, whether through financial contributions, providing goods, or sponsorship, we’d love to discuss how we can work together to bring Arabana Warli to life for our community. Let’s make it happen and build something lasting for Arabana people and the future. Contact us today to learn more about how you can be part of this exciting opportunity: j.shaw@arabana.com.au or 0499 409 497. #ArabanaWarli #CulturalHub #ReturningToCountry #ArabanaCountry #IndigenousHeritage #SocialInvestment #CorporatePartnership #SupportIndigenousCommunities

  • We wanted to share some important insights from Indigenous Business Australia (IBA). Even though the economy’s not at its strongest, the job market is still holding up well, and that’s a great sign for First Nations businesses. According to IBA’s "Pathways Through Business" report, First Nations businesses are in a perfect position to take advantage of this: ➡️ Grow your business by hiring more workers ➡️ Empower your community with more jobs ➡️ Help build stronger communities through employment ➡️ Increase productivity by investing in your people If you’re a First Nations entrepreneur, now’s the time to think about growing your business and team. #FirstNationsBusiness #EconomicGrowth #CommunityImpact #HiringOpportunities #IndigenousBusiness

We at First Nations Economics echo the insights from Indigenous Business Australia's recent article. Despite a weaker Australian economy, the job market remains surprisingly robust. This presents a golden opportunity for First Nations businesses to expand their workforce and boost their impact. Why? Because real wages have fallen, making it more affordable to hire. This, coupled with a strong labour market, creates ideal conditions for growth. As IBA's report "Pathways Through Business" highlights, First Nations businesses are uniquely positioned to leverage this situation. By hiring more First Nation workers, they can: ➡️ Expand production and sales: A larger workforce can drive business growth. ➡️ Increase economic participation: More jobs mean greater economic empowerment for First Nation communities. ➡️ Strengthen communities: Employment fosters social cohesion and well-being. ➡️ Boost productivity: Investing in First Nations employees leads to higher productivity and stronger businesses. We urge First Nations entrepreneurs to seize this moment. Expand your teams, invest in your people, and contribute to a thriving First Nations economy. https://lnkd.in/gMjq8zhp
