About us
In 1951, a group of concerned parents got together to ensure that their children received the best educational and social services possible. Since then, Arc of Onondaga has been providing quality programs for people with developmental disabilities of all ages. Arc of Onondaga is one of the largest provider of services to people with developmental disabilities in Onondaga County serving thousands of individuals and their families and employing 500 people. With nearly 40 different sites throughout Central New York, Arc provides a wide array of services including residential, day, employment and clinical services and recreation programs. In addition to these supports and services Arc operates two major subsidiaries: Parkside Children’s Center, an early intervention preschool and Monarch, a vocational program and outsourcing company with corporate partners throughout the region. A true community-based organization, Arc thrives on community involvement and inclusion, as well as relying on community membership to build its base of support. Its program participants volunteer hundreds of hours in the community each year in support of a wide variety of organizations and causes.

Congratulations to Anthony Petrelli on receiving the William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award from the New York State Industries for the Disabled during a ceremony this afternoon at Arc of Onondaga! The William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award is NYSID’s annual people-centered awards program which recognizes exceptional vocational and personal success on Preferred Source jobs. Being at the OCRRA site since the beginning of its contract with NYSID has been a rewarding experience for Anthony and for OCRRA. “He’s given 100% since day one,” said Steve Ludwig, Operations Manager for Commercial Contracts at Arc. “The guys at OCRRA are great to work with. They’re accepting and welcoming, and Anthony needs minimal supervision on site. He’s filling a need and doing a great job. He really enjoys the work. He is a part of their team - so much so that they even included him in their informational video.” “Anthony is an essential part of the depackaging program at OCRRA’s Amboy Compost Site,” said Maria Bianchetti, Recycling Operations Manager at OCRRA. “He is a pleasure to work with, and when he is in the barn working, he improves everyone’s spirits. He is a consistently hard worker, and we would not have as successful of a program without him!” Great job, Anthony! What a great way to celebrate #NDEAM! #NDEAM2024 #GoodJobsForAll #EmployAbility #nysid

Meet Hayden! Hayden has been employed at Green Hills Farms for almost two years and is a valued employee at the locally owned grocery store. During his employment at Green Hills Farms, he has only called in once. What he likes the most about working there are the people.
