Leading the way to a future where people and robots work together to grow U.S. manufacturing leadership

About us

The ARM (Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing) Institute accelerates the development and adoption of innovative robotics technologies that are the foundation of every advanced manufacturing activity today and in the future. We leverage a unique, robust and diverse ecosystem of partners across industry, academia and government to: - make robotics, autonomy and artificial intelligence more accessible to U.S. manufacturers large and small - train and empower the manufacturing workforce - strengthen our economy and global competitiveness - elevate our national security and resilience The ARM Institute operates as part of the Manufacturing USA network, and is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. By creating a collaborative ecosystem of like-minded organizations, the ARM Institute is speeding the movement of industrial robots into commercial use, while preparing a labor force to operate and manage these technologies. ARM is an integral part of Pittsburgh’s strategy to define the future of the global manufacturing economy and will be the lead tenant at Hazelwood Green, a unique hub that will revolutionize U.S. manufacturing. The ARM Institute was honored to welcome representatives from the Department of Defense’s Office of Strategic Capital (OSC), including Vyshi Suntharalingam (Chief Technology and Engineering Officer), to our Pittsburgh headquarters! OSC was established to (1) attract private capital to national security priorities and (2) scale investment in critical technologies. ARM Members will have the opportunity to connect directly with Vyshi Suntharalingam and OSC during our Annual Member Meeting taking place Sept. 23-25 in Pittsburgh. On the morning of Sept. 25 during our breakfast, Vyshi will host an optional roundtable discussion with members to understand the specific technologies that our members are developing and how OSC can support them. Additionally, OSC has an open Request for Information (RFI) to inform the design and implementation of the DoD Loan Program. Responses to this RFI are due on Oct. 22.
