Leading the way to a future where people and robots work together to grow U.S. manufacturing leadership

About us

The ARM (Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing) Institute accelerates the development and adoption of innovative robotics technologies that are the foundation of every advanced manufacturing activity today and in the future. We leverage a unique, robust and diverse ecosystem of partners across industry, academia and government to: - make robotics, autonomy and artificial intelligence more accessible to U.S. manufacturers large and small - train and empower the manufacturing workforce - strengthen our economy and global competitiveness - elevate our national security and resilience The ARM Institute operates as part of the Manufacturing USA network, and is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. By creating a collaborative ecosystem of like-minded organizations, the ARM Institute is speeding the movement of industrial robots into commercial use, while preparing a labor force to operate and manage these technologies. ARM is an integral part of Pittsburgh’s strategy to define the future of the global manufacturing economy and will be the lead tenant at Hazelwood Green, a unique hub that will revolutionize U.S. manufacturing. To kick-off Manufacturing Day, the Honorable Aprille J. Ericsson, Ph.D, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Science and Technology (ASD(S&T)) outlines the importance of manufacturing to our nation in this video address. Earlier this week, we worked with our partners at Mill 19, Carnegie Mellon University's Manufacturing Futures Institute and Catalyst Connection, to bring over 100 students from the Pittsburgh region into our building to learn more about manufacturing and explore robotics demonstrations. Increasing awareness about the importance and value of manufacturing careers is critical even beyond this annual celebration. RoboticsCareer.org, our national workforce resource, connects students, teachers, and workers with resources and information about robotics training resources and manufacturing job listings all year! #MFGDay

Today, on October 4th, we celebrate Manufacturing Day, kicking off a month-long recognition of the crucial role manufacturing plays in the U.S. economy and national security. This day highlights the importance of advanced manufacturing in driving innovation and creating jobs that keep the U.S. competitive on the global stage. As part of the Department of Defense's mission, ManTech is committed to fostering cutting-edge technologies and developing the skilled workforce needed for the future of manufacturing. Through the ManTech portfolios and DoD Manufacturing Innovation Institutes, we ensure that U.S. manufacturing remains resilient, innovative, and ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow. Check out a video message from the Honorable Aprille J. Ericsson, Ph.D, assistant secretary of defense for science and technology (ASD(S&T)), as she highlights the significance of Manufacturing Day and the opportunities ahead for U.S. manufacturing.
