Whether they remain in the headlines or not, global supply chains are still decidedly on the front lines... #supplychain #redsea #oceanfreight
🚢 Disturbing news from the Red Sea: The information used to target western shipping vessels was provided by Russia, through Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, to the Houthis in Yemen. As reported in The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, Russia wanted to disrupt Western economies and chose the supply chain as its target. Since November 2023, more than 100 ships have been attacked with missiles and drones, two have been sunk and one was hijacked. There is a multinational coalition working to protect ships traveling through the Red Sea to the Suez Canal and the U.S. alone has spent over $1 Billion protecting ships, but how much more can the region take? Whether they remain in the headlines or not, global supply chains are still decidedly on the front lines... and could very well become the source of much feared escalation. https://lnkd.in/enTD7S3g #supplychain #RedSea #oceanfreight Art of Supply Buyers Meeting Point Art of Procurement

In the final part of this four-part special series, we compare and contrast the actual policy positions of Democratic Candidate Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican Candidate Former President Donald J. Trump. What differences can we expect when supply chain policy is focused on critical industries versus an emphasis on keeping production domestic? How about looking at a diverse range of energy sources as well as the overall cost and supply of available energy? Who wants to raise corporate taxes and who wants to lower them, and the one thing both candidates agree upon: China. 🎧 https://lnkd.in/g5rQt7As #artofprocurement #procurement #supplychain #presidentialelection #specialseries

Will former President Donald Trump’s policy plans Make Supply Chains Great Again? Listen in as Kelly Barner explains his detailed positions on global trade and China, the lack of detail regarding his position on emissions and the environment, and strong statements about both the cost and availability of energy, and the importance of emphasizing domestic production over imports from other parts of the world. 🎧 https://lnkd.in/g5rQt7As #artofsupply #presidentialelection #specialseries

Would you accept mediocrity to get stability? Would you give up understanding if it meant being happy? Your answers to those questions determine how well you would fit in in Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. Huxley’s focus on society and the role of science is particularly interesting in the context of today’s struggle to accept and embrace automation and AI. In this edition of the Art of Supply newsletter, Kelly Barner re-reads Brave New World for procurement and supply chain teams facing a very new - and very uncertain - future, bravely. https://lnkd.in/dxC6fTuY #supplychain #disruption #change
