As we approach hurricane season, let's look to the lessons of the ongoing hail season for wisdom: we cannot stop the hail (or other natural disaster), but we can be smarter about protecting homes. Colorado's 45.68% of homes with trees overlapping their roofs is a reminder of how the simple measures can be the most powerful. Keeping trees trimmed back and away from a roof helps so many things, not just hail. It keeps homes safer from critters, who like to use trees as ladders to get into a house. It keeps homes safer from wind, which can cause the branches to scrape and hit the roof. It even helps homes reduce fire risk by establishing more defensible space. In this way, using and relying upon an agreed set of truth can bring all property stakeholders together to make smarter choices, baked by AI and science, on how to best protect the biggest and most important asset anyone will have in their lives: their home. Besides the roof, plenty of homes have accessories that can be damaged from hailstorms. In Colorado, 12.10% of homes have skylights. Depending on the impact-resistance of the type, a home's risk can greatly increase. Impact-resistant options can mitigate damage, safeguarding the home itself, the contents, and even the lives of those inside. Regular maintenance is key to protecting interiors from potential hazards. Get this and other critical hail vulnerability insights, derived from AI, in this report: https://hubs.li/Q02slpkL0

If you live in America's hail alley, it only takes a quick drive past the local car dealership in the spring to witness firsthand how vulnerable cars are to hail. In Colorado, 1 in 5 homes keep cars parked outside, putting them at risk of hail damage. Hail only needs to be 1 inch, or the size of a U.S. quarter, to cause substantial damage to the body of a vehicle. Having easy access to a covered area to park a car can make the difference between costly dent repairs — or worse, cracked windshields — and peace of mind. In the latest Arturo report, our AI-derived insights and data pave the way for insurance companies, contractors, and homeowners to work together to fortify homes against hail risks. Colorado, nestled in "hail alley," faces unpredictable hail seasons. Climate change has added complexity to this; new research shows the frequency of hail increasing in Australia and Europe while decreasing in the U.S. and East Asia — but it shows the severity, and thus size, of hail increasing everywhere. It is imperative to understand the vulnerability of homes today to prepare for the storms tomorrow. Arturo's AI-driven analysis shows 2.87% of roofs in Colorado are in poor condition, providing an opportunity for all property stakeholders, including the owners themselves, to work together, remediate damage to reduce risk, and keep everyone safer.
