Question: What role do marketers play if AI Agents conduct commerce on behalf of humans? Thank you Ascendant Network for the opportunity to answer that very question as the kickoff speaker at the 10th aniv event for hundreds of top CMOs and Heads of Marketing in Palo Alto. Susan MacDermid, you've built an amazing community of digital leaders, with purpose. My topic: How Marketers can lead when AI Agents will drive customer decisions (and actually research, decide, and complete commerce on behalf of humans). This group of marketing leaders are savvy, many of them led their organizations in web2, the on demand economy, and pivoted their companies during covid. They quickly gripped that AI Agents will shift the strategy, a few key points I hit: -Humans wont need to visit corporate websites/apps; the agents will do it for them -Data will be assembled in the way that the customer wants, in any format -Advertising may need to shift to offer-based -Agents are yet a new influencer to woo -New data records will need to be appended to CRM systems, focused on agents -CMS systems will need to evolve to offer data APIs to agents -Marketers continued focus on complete data quality will be the foundation I gave real life examples of MultiOn*, Skyfire*, Salesforce agentforce, HubSpot agent .ai marketplace, and more.
