Here's a rundown of how we're using and thinking about AI at Nimbl.
For now, we're exploring how to use AI everywhere we can think of except our core financial operations workflows.
We haven’t found a tool that reliably and cost-effectively enhances QBO’s bank feed processes. We're hoping Intuit advances quickly in this area, but we're open to layering on a third-party tool if we find a good one. Comment if you know of any we should look at!
That said, AI is making a huge impact on how we work. Here’s what’s working for us:
🚀 AI as a First Draft & Thought Partner
*Before brainstorming with a colleague, refine your ideas with AI first.
*If you're unsure about a client question, ask AI to verify your understanding and draft a response before checking with a team member.
*Load financials + client context into AI to generate a first-pass commentary for month-end reports.
🛠 Making Complex Projects More Efficient
* We're in the process of revamping our service library to be more productized. Brainstorming with AI to define the product and integrate with end-to-end marketing, sales, onboarding, and client service has saved hours of work.
* We're building a custom internal application with a low-code tool. Our IT leader has only spent a few hours on it so far and estimates that AI has saved him over 40 hours of work.
* I spent less than two hours preparing a presentation that I had budgeted 10-20 hours for. Now I can spend more time on personalizing the content with stories and less on the mechanics of outlining and wordsmithing.
📊 AI in Meetings & Sales
*We rolled out AskElephant across our team for note-taking and analysis.
AI helps ensure sales calls cover key points and integrates directly into HubSpot.
*We use it for one-on-ones, team meetings, and client meetings, linking threads to extract summaries, action items, and even trends over time.
*For leadership, we can analyze themes across multiple meetings—getting a pulse on what’s happening across teams without sitting in every conversation.
🔮 The Big Dream? AI-Powered Client Context
Our ideal setup would integrate insights from calls, emails, CRM data, and more—giving a full picture of a client’s journey from lead to long-term relationship.
Right now, I'm not aware of a solution for this, but I've been in touch with startups looking to solve it (including an accounting-specific one that I'm optimistic about).
For now, we’re in exploration mode—figuring out what works before fully standardizing processes. But one thing is clear: AI isn’t replacing our expertise—it’s amplifying it.
