Where do the possibilities of Torus Community start to get really exciting? The commercial and industrial sector. Buildings currently account for close to 40% of all energy-related CO2 emissions. We have the opportunity to offset all of that. Put another way, every commercial Torus system we install is equivalent to decarbonizing hundreds if not thousands of homes. By turning commercial buildings into renewable power plants, we’re also expanding grid capacity to accommodate the electrification of our infrastructure and power next-gen technologies like AI. Here’s what Torus Community looks like in action 🔋☀️ Even though we just officially launched the feature, Torus has actually been supporting Rocky Mountain Power all along the Wasatch Front for months. We currently have systems installed all along the I-15 corridor. That means Rocky Mountain Power can call upon Torus Stations to help ease congestion and balance supply and demand at substations stretching between Logan and Payson. So far, we’ve responded to 89 unplanned demand response events. And each time we’ve helped the grid, it’s been with 100% renewable energy. Now, scale this same concept across transmission and distribution lines in communities around the country, and you can see how a decentralized energy system is likely in our not-so-distant future 🔮

A couple of days ago, we launched Torus Community 🌐 This feature lets our residential and commercial customers share some of the renewable energy they produce back to the grid. By aggregating individual points of energy generation and storage, Torus Community creates a virtual power plant (VPP). VPPs can increase grid resilience, keep electricity prices low, and quickly expand capacity, but they need two things in order to be successful: Uptime—if individual assets aren’t online, the capacity of the VPP diminishes. Responsiveness—balancing the grid is tricky business and operators sometimes need to shift power quickly. Torus controlled assets have a 99.99% uptime and respond to commands within 0.01 seconds, providing the reliability and control required to actually make VPPs work. That means lots of exciting things for our energy future 💡

Torus Community just launched 🚀 Our commercial customers can now share renewable energy directly with their wider community when the grid is in need. Here’s why that’s so cool: ▪️ It lays the foundation for a decentralized grid 💡🔌 Rather than relying on large power plants for energy, Torus turns businesses into miniature power plants. By connecting all of these individual points of generation and storage together, we create a reservoir of clean power that can be shared with other community members to help balance demand. ▪️ It allows us to quickly expand grid capacity with clean energy 🔋☀️New power plants and large-scale renewable energy projects take years to permit and build. Torus systems, on the other hand, can be installed in a number of weeks or months, enabling us to meet rising electricity demand much more efficiently. ▪️ It’s a win for everyone 🏡🏢 For our customers, installing a Torus system lowers electricity costs, reduces CO2 emissions, and protects against outages. By sharing power back to the grid when demand is high, we unlock these same benefits for entire communities, while helping preserve the health of our planet for future generations. ⚡ Big news! ⚡ We’re partnering with Gardner Group to deploy nearly 26 MWh of Torus energy storage solutions 🔋across a portion of their commercial real estate portfolio. Because each system will be managed using Torus software, they’ll actually support the entire grid 🤝by helping to regulate frequency and providing power during times of increased demand. 26 MWh is enough to power 1,000 homes 🏠 for an entire day, meaning this project will greatly increase the capacity of our grid.
