📸: The Aston Martin Formula One (AMF1) rotating trackside nondestructive testing (NDT) team celebrated a win after the 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix, where two-time World Champion driver Fernando Alonso finished third, earning a place on the podium. “I’m fortunate enough to witness the efforts put in from both the staff here at base and trackside, and I can honestly say it’s been nonstop pushing from both sides, all year. It’s been a great year if we’re comparing ourselves to the previous years—eight podium finishes! But I think we can collectively say it’s left us hungrier than ever to achieve more and bring home our first race win next year!” said team NDT technician Ryan Robinson. The team uses fluorescent penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current, and ultrasonic testing (both A-scan and phased array) techniques at the AMF1 Technology Campus in the UK as well as trackside to ensure the cars are race-day ready. One technician travels to every race, providing trackside NDT support on a rotating basis. This past week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend ASNT 2024, the annual event of the ASNT (The American Society for Nondestructive Testing). As a participant in the prestigious 2024/2025 ASNT RISE leadership program and a first-time attendee, I was truly inspired and awestruck by the NDT industry. The passion, commitment, and energy of everyone involved are nothing short of commendable. The week began with an enlightening day-long session with Bruce Hunter and Pam Rosenberg, CAE, where we delved into the Franklin Covey 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. We explored principles of effective self-leadership, influence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The event officially kicked off with an inspiring keynote from Tamara Robertson, focusing on developing and advancing the next generation of the workforce in STEM and NDT. The exhibit hall, featuring over 220 exhibitors, was a true embodiment of the theme "ENGAGE," showcasing the latest advancements in NDT technology. I also had the privilege of serving as a short course monitor through the ASNT volunteer portal, where I listened to Ramon Salvador Fernandez Orozco’s session on "Creating Roadmaps for Digital Transformation (NDT 4.0)." This interactive course highlighted key aspects of digital transformation and the development of individual roadmaps. The technical sessions, focus group meetings, and participation in the Energy Council left me eager for more. I am looking forward to the next 12 months of RISE leadership sessions and other engagement opportunities with ASNT, and I can't wait to reconnect with everyone at ASNT 2025. #ASNT2024 #NDT #Leadership #ASNT

It’s hard to find words to describe this past week. Coming together with colleagues from all over the world to learn and grow so that we can make the world a safer place. Such kindness and thoughtfulness from so many - people from other countries specifically brought presents for my children, a bag of Japanese food and treats and stuff for my daughter, a Messi jersey for my son, French cookies for my family, chip clips for my husband. I was blown away. But the best part of the week was getting to see my friends from all over. Some I’ve known for nearly 30 years, some were new. Amazing people. A blessing to be able to see them. One last story, I was truly humbled by the reaction I received from numerous young women in NDT. They thanked me for my hard work for all the women in NDT, they said I was an inspiration. One was literally star struck and had to be pulled over to me by someone else because she was too nervous to talk to me. Some requested photos with me. It was so weird but in the most amazing way possible. I went into this conference tired of fighting the good fight, I came out reinvigorated. I was truly blown away. Some highlights from the week… Danny Keck Ed Cabral Heather Cowles, CAE, CVA John Iman Scott Cargill Ricky Morgan Michelle Harnish Cory Alsip Allen Gress Marty Graen Steve Strachan Larry Gochnauer Emilie Peloquin Cindy R. 🌟 Wrapping up an incredible week at the ASNT Annual Conference in Las Vegas! 🌟 From sharing insights in my presentation to engaging with fellow NDT Faces and exploring the exhibition hall, this event was a fantastic experience. Connecting with ASNT staff in person added a whole new level of appreciation for the incredible work they do to advance our field. I’m also thrilled to share that my interview is featured in the latest issue of ASNT Materials Evaluation Magazine, and you can catch my article in NDT Trends magazine as well! These platforms provide such valuable opportunities to exchange ideas and showcase innovation in NDT. Thank you to everyone who attended my session, visited the exhibition, and made this week so memorable.
