The Magic of Sunlight vs. The Potential Dangers of Artificial Light at Night 💡🌙 In our latest video, we dive deeper into the incredible effects of sunlight and the mesmerizing play of reflections and refractions in everyday spaces. The artists behind the installation designed a maquette of their home, allowing us to explore how sunlight interacts with different surfaces, casting dynamic reflections and bending through various materials to produce stunning visual effects. To capture this magic, we used a probe lens to film close-up details of light bouncing off surfaces. By emphasizing these subtle interactions, we highlighted the emotional and aesthetic impact that light can have on our spaces. 🌞✨ However, while sunlight has undeniable benefits, recent research suggests that artificial light at night—from city lights to household lamps—might have unintended consequences on our health. Some studies even link prolonged exposure to nighttime light with potential cognitive decline, including conditions like Alzheimer’s. It’s a sobering thought, though the conclusions are still debated. This raises an important question: Are we benefiting from the convenience of artificial light now, only to pay a price later? Are we all going to grow older, but forget about it earlier? Exploring the Power of Light in Our Spaces 💡 We recently had the opportunity to create a series of videos centered around light and its transformative effect on our homes and well-being. From the way sunlight filters through our windows during the day, to the comforting glow of indoor lamps as evening falls, and even the quiet beauty of moonlight—light shapes our environments and influences how we feel. Working on these videos made me even more aware of how light affects not just the aesthetic of a space but also our mood and productivity. Delving into the intersection of light, art, and performance, we had the privilege of capturing this stunning installation that explores how different lighting—ranging from natural daylight to moonlight—can dramatically alter the feel of a home. The artists built a detailed maquette of their home and used lighting to create a range of moods and compositions. To capture the intricate details of this performance, we used a probe lens, a unique tool that allows for incredibly close and immersive shots. Unlike traditional lenses, a probe lens can focus on small objects up close while maintaining a wide field of view. It’s perfect for getting those tight, cinematic shots that pull the viewer deeper into the experience. This lens helped us bring the audience right into the heart of the light compositions, revealing subtle shifts and textures that would otherwise be missed. Exploring light’s effect on our spaces has always been fascinating—did you know that natural light can improve your focus and boost your mood, while low lighting can evoke feelings of calm or even mystery?
