Shaping aviation's future

About us

Established in Washington, D.C. in 1956 by a group of air traffic controllers, the Air Traffic Control Association has been from the outset dedicated to progress in the science of air traffic control and the preservation of a safe flight environment. It provides a forum in which those concerned can address the myriad issues inherent to the development of viable air traffic control systems and aviation infrastructures, and the ever increasing demands on the global navigable airspace environment. Those in the aviation community; the providers of air traffic control, system architects, manufacturers, suppliers, system operators and users join together in ATCA to share their collective experience and knowledge, and efforts in pursuit of common goals. ATCA is unique in representing the broad spectrum of civil-military cooperation typical of global flying activities. Its Annual Technical Meetings and Exhibits feature North America's largest and most diverse display of aviation related technology. These events are attended by thousands of civilian and military members and representatives from around the world. ATCA also sponsors Technical Conferences and Symposia annually in Europe, the Pacific Rim and Latin America. ATCA’s Civil Military Air Traffic Management Summit known as CMAC™ attracts Civil and Military Aviation leaders from around the world. Beginning in 2009 this will be held annually. ATCA is a non-profit, non-government, professional organization.

ATCA is pleased to announce that we awarded $60,000 in scholarships to eight deserving students this year. The ATCA Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to outstanding aviation students and children of air traffic controllers. ATCA's wonderful candidates, exceptional winners, and generous scholarship partners and donors are the ones who make it happen. With the continued support of the aviation community for this industry-sustaining program, we hope to award at least as much in the future. But we need your support to do it. Please consider donating to help support next year's winners. https://lnkd.in/efebAHKR

Our new look and enhancements demonstrate our commitment to evolve in ways that align with our core mission of fostering education, collaboration, thought leadership, and advocacy. That extends to our desire to build upon the great success of our inaugural women's aviation leadership conference last spring. We're already working to plan next year's second annual conference. Today, we are unveiling a new name for the event. Introducing: empowerHER, an ATCA leadership forum!   Save the date: March 4-6, 2025. We'll meet in Westlake, Texas, near Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, surrounding attendees with powerful women, allies, and future leaders in another jam-packed lineup of speakers, panelists, workshop learning sessions, and networking opportunities. Support and empowerment to reach new heights remains our goal.   We'll have registration, STEM, and sponsor information for you in September.

ATCA today continued its advocacy for the integration of cutting-edge technologies and services that ensure the safe and efficient management of the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS), collaborating with stakeholders representing nearly every sector of the system in calling on U.S. congressional aviation leaders and the Administration to strengthen investment in facilities and equipment. Our goal: Convince Congress to consider giving the Federal Aviation Administration the ability to more effectively utilize the Airport & Airway Trust Fund (AATF) balance for needed facility upgrades and system modernization. The AATF is expected to have surpluses in the next few years, and it is critical to ensure those funds are spent to address critical system needs, including the deployment of key NextGen programs, the replacement of many FAA facilities that are more than 50 years old, and the FAA’s return to a model of preventative maintenance instead of “fix-on-fail.” Ensuring the FAA has predictable, sustainable resources for current and longer-term modernization projects is vital. We must continue to build upon the initial steps taken in the FAA Reauthorization Act and provide the necessary capital to address the needs of the NAS.
