About us

Atlanta Habitat for Humanity partners with working families, sponsors, and communities to build affordable, green, quality homes and to provide support services that promote successful home purchase and ownership. As one of 1,500 local affiliates of Habitat for Humanity International, Atlanta Habitat works primarily in the city of Atlanta and Fulton County to bring generous donors and hardworking volunteers together with qualified, working families. The result is dramatic, positive differences in the lives of family members and in neighborhoods. We construct quality houses that are sold to homebuyer families through no-profit, no-interest loans. Homebuyers complete 250 sweat-equity hours and other requirements, pay for their homes and all upkeep, and maintain current payments on their properties. More than 40 staff members support the efforts of over 13,000 volunteers to raise funds, qualify homeowner applicants, build houses, provide administrative support, and much more. Our extensive homeowner education program offers a wide variety of classes, 12 of which are required. With 30 years of experience fostering successful transitions from tenancy to ownership, we know the essential ingredient that fosters success is knowledge. Our four-star rating by Charity Navigator is an affirmation of our intense focus on fiscal responsibility as we work to serve more parents, grandparents, guardians, and most importantly – children. • Nicole is officially our first homeowner in the City of South Fulton!  "I'm excited because I really want my nephew to see all of this so he can see that, it's possible for him and my other siblings as well. I'm the youngest of five and I would be the first homeowner out of all the grandkids," said Nicole who will be living with her nephew in her new home. This home is possible thanks to an anonymous donation who wanted to honor long time volunteer Pat McGauley. Since the '90s, Pat has been a staple in the construction of Atlanta Habitat homes and has trained nearly all of the current Houseleaders and Skilled Supervisors. Congratulations Nicole and welcome home!

  • Thanks to the continued support from the Maddox Family, Tre’ is a #homeowner ! In honor of former COO Dan Maddox Jr., the family came together once again to sponsor a two story home. He and his family sponsored Atlanta Habitat’s first two-story build in honor of his deceased parents, exemplifying a dedication that went beyond the call of duty. Every two story home is a reminder of how truly blessed we are to have  walked alongside a man of Dan Maddox’s caliber for many years. His legacy is not just a part of our history; it is intricately woven into every area, strategy, and the very fabric of Atlanta Habitat’s culture. Thank you to his family for continuing this legacy and highlighting just how much one person, one family can truly create a lasting impact and difference in the world.

  • It’s a wonderful thing when communities come together to uplift a neighbor! After building their homes alongside the Supreme Lending team, Christine and Genair were gifted another surprise. Warrick Dunn Charities and The Aaron's Company, Inc. surprised the women with fully furnished homes for their families, along with $5,000 for their down payment. It was a day filled with happy tears and joy for the families.

  • Mark your calendars! The City of South Fulton made a proclamation that August 27 is Habitat for Humanity Day! This proclamation comes after our expansion into the city with the South Fulton ReStore and the completion of our very first build in South Fulton. The construction of this particular home was made possible by a generous anonymous donor who wanted to honor long time Volunteer and former staff member Pat McGauley. “The Pat McGauley Honor Build is Atlanta Habitat's inaugural project in the City of South Fulton,” said Atlanta Habitat Neighborhood Engagement Director Tia McCoy. “The project recognizes McGauley's commitment, and the home is being built for a deserving homebuyer eager to make the City of South Fulton their new residence.”

  • Tanisha Wright, Head Coach for the Atlanta Dream, has served as a mission ambassador for us this past year. She is an advocate for financial and economic empowerment, combating homelessness and housing insecurity. When Tanisha was drafted in the WNBA, she was finally able to make her own homeownership dreams a reality but found a fascination in “turning ugly homes into something new and beautiful.” Rather than investing in a dream home, she decided to find and flip a fixer-upper. Though it was hard work, when she was finished flipping the home, she also discovered a passion for the work.  “I know what it’s like to grow up longing for a home to call my own – it’s a reality I was only able to realize as an adult,” said Wright. “I’m on a mission to inspire and empower women to pursue their passions and achieve the dream of home ownership for their families.”
