About us
regional planning + local relevance The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) serves as a catalyst for regional progress by focusing leadership, attention and planning resources on key regional issues. ARC is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency for the 11-county metro Atlanta area including Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties, as well as the City of Atlanta. For 60 years, ARC and its predecessor agencies have helped to focus the region's leadership, attention and resources on key issues of regional consequence. ARC is dedicated to unifying the region's collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous future. It does so through professional planning initiatives, the provision of objective information and the involvement of the community in collaborative partnerships.

Peachtree Corners incorporated in July 2012 as Gwinnett County’s 16th and largest city and the following year, purchased 21 acres for future development as its mixed-use Town Center. The city received an LCI grant in 2014 to create a vision for the Town Center which opened in 2019. It boasts more than 15 restaurants, retail shops, office space, townhomes and over 2 acres dedicated to the Town Green. ARC provided $480,000 in LCI Transportation funding for construction of Phase 2 of the Innovation District Multi-Use Trail, which connects to the city’s existing “Corners Connector” trail system, and is slated for completion in 2025. Patrons of Peachtree Corners Town Center have safe access to The Forum mixed-use development across Peachtree Parkway/Hwy. 141 via a 190-foot long, 14-foot-wide pedestrian bridge which also connects to the Corners Connector. Join us as ARC celebrates 25 years of transforming communities. ARC’s Livable Center Initiative (LCI) incentivizes local jurisdictions to create walkable, accessible places. Perimeter Community Improvement District received a total of $254,000 in study funding from an original study + four supplemental/tactical studies. The study area includes the City of Dunwoody, City of Sandy Springs, and unincorporated DeKalb County; and includes three MARTA stations: Medical Center, Dunwoody, and Sandy Springs. The 2001 initial LCI study laid the groundwork for the transformation of Perimeter Center from a suburban regional center to a livable mixed-use community. An update followed in 2005. In 2011 sustainable growth management, livability enhancements, and connectivity were prioritized. The LCI Program has funded 6 transportation projects in Perimeter Center totaling more than $13 million for streetscapes, pedestrian/bicycle and transit connectivity, pedestrian improvements, multimodal transit scape, and Dunwoody Transit Station improvements. Mixed-use, walkable developments with community gathering spaces include High Street, Ashford Crossing, and Park Place. Join us as ARC celebrates 25 years of transforming communities.
