Make the world more accessible. One video at a time.

About us

Audible Sight is a computer vision application for content creators that rapidly adds audio description to any video, ensuring Section 508, WCAG and ADA compliance. Our vision is to open a universe of video content that is currently inaccessible for visually impaired persons, by making audio description as ubiquitous as closed captioning is for the hearing impaired. Traditional methods for producing AD require an experienced AD writer, a voice actor, and a video editor. Audible Sight leverages the recent advances in AI to democratize the process. It’s designed for content creators and administrators who curate videos. No technical skills are required. With AI-enabled automation, Audible Sight breaks any video into scenes and generates text descriptions within minutes. You can edit the descriptions and move them using drag-n-drop. Make the world more accessible.

Congratulations to winner Say It Labs, fellow semi-finalists in the Milken-Penn GSE Education Business Plan Competition. Say It Labs provides speech recognition-based video games designed for people with speech disorders. I am wowed by their speech recognition technology that has been trained and adapted specifically for people with speech disorders. People who want to practice independently now have a platform that understands less common speech production. And it offers speech assistance for remediation. Systems such as Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant don't work for people with speech disabilities. Say It Labs solves this. Celebrating the differences among us. Say It Labs is making a positive difference in the world. Kudos. Props go to the other finalists as well: Saturday Art Class, and Honest Game. Audible Sight is proud to have been selected as a semi-finalist.

We are thrilled to have Leader Dogs for the Blind join us as a new customer. I admire their organization. I was surprised to learn that only 1 in 10 people who are blind travel safely and independently with a white cane or a guide dog. Leader Dogs for the Blind empowers people who are blind or visually impaired with lifelong skills for safe and independent daily travel. They do beautiful work and offer all of their services, including providing trained leader dogs, at no charge to their clients. At Audible Sight, we're 100% on board with their core value that everyone living with vision loss deserves access to the services they need to travel safely and confidently. They say that "Blindness can slow you down. Free services from Leader Dog make people unstoppable." In much the same way, we are emphatic that everyone living with vision loss deserves access to all videos. Our mission at Audible Sight is to make millions of videos accessible. Using our technology, it's easy and economical and does not require any technical skills. We invite you to be a pioneering force for good by expanding the universe of videos accessible to individuals who are blind or have low vision. If you work for an organization that has any video content, your participation would significantly transform how this community experiences your content. Join us in making a profound impact and opening up new possibilities for accessibility and inclusion. Leader Dogs for the Blind relies on donations. From their website: "It is truly amazing to witness our clients regain their freedom after training to work with a Leader Dog. But the costs of providing 17 months of care, professional training and veterinary services add up quickly. And we’re already looking ahead to the future with new puppies that have just begun their training journey! That’s why we’re so grateful for The Gray Family, generous friends who have committed to providing a $100,000 matching gift fund. Every gift made from now to September 30 will be doubled. So, by making a gift today, you can have twice the impact!" Here below is the link to donate to Leader Dogs for the Blind.  https://lnkd.in/ek7-y797

Synthetic voices don't always "know" how to properly pronounce certain words, including many names. They can learn but you need to teach them. Often the fastest solution is to spell the word phonetically. My last name can be spelled rye-BAR-check to get it pronounced properly. It means fisherman in Polish. Our technology will let you easily add a lifelike synthetic voice that explains the content of your videos. It's called audio description. Audio description makes your videos accessible for blind and low-vision people. It's similar to the way captions make videos accessible for hearing-impaired people. You don't need any technical skills to use Audible Sight. We invented this technology because 340 million visually impaired people cannot access the 2 million hours of video that gets uploaded to the internet EVERY SINGLE DAY. That's just not fair. With new technology, it's really easy to make videos accessible. It's economical and does not require technical skills. So this is a fixable problem. If you use a service bureau to manually add audio description then we're on the same team. It's the team of Let's Make Every Video Accessible. You will need to explain to your service bureau how to properly pronounce the names in your videos. The same phonetic spelling technique can be used to explain the proper pronunciation to your service bureau. If I'm in your video, just tell them it's rye-BAR-check. This video below is the most adorable example of phonetic pronunciation that I have ever seen. Kudos to these impressive young ladies, Amara and Leela. https://lnkd.in/e6Zdim49

Today at Audible Sight, we are pausing to reflect on the life of Brandon Cole, who has passed away from illness in the prime of life. Brandon was an awesome human being who dedicated himself to making the world a fairer place for those most marginalized in our society. In particular, he was an enthusiastic and effective influencer in the field of video gaming. He introduced me to the concept of blind people gaming (why not?) Brandon worked with industry-leaders to build fair and inclusive pathways into technology. He reached out to me - as Superblindman - to cheer me on in my quest to make millions of videos accessible for the 285 million visually impaired people around the world. He said he was "delighted" to help me. That he did. I am better off for having met him. Peace to Brandon's family and friends.

Exciting news! Huge congratulations to the Audible Sight dev team. We're thrilled to announce the release of the most advanced and elegant DIY audio description tool available anywhere. This game-changing update to our technology is the ultimate solution for making video content accessible for visually impaired individuals, akin to what closed captioning does for the deaf community. Our new release is a magnum opus. As the pioneers of DIY audio description technology, we know the bar has now been raised to new heights! Whether you're a returning user or new to Audible Sight, now is the perfect time to experience our stunning new features:  https://lnkd.in/e-Q_m4Gf Try it for free. Create up to 10 minutes of audio-described video at no charge. No credit card, video editing skills, or technical expertise required. There are two forms of audio description. Extended audio description adds brief splices of video where the audio description gets inserted. The resulting audio described video is slightly longer. This type of audio description is perfect for most information, government, and education videos. Here's an example, created using Audible Sight: https://lnkd.in/e_r8SmeW Standard audio description makes use of the silent gaps in the audio where there is no dialogue in the original video, keeping the video length unchanged. This type of audio description is perfect for movies and TV shows. You can see it on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video and other streaming services. Look for the audio description option where you choose the play settings such as closed captioning. Here's an example, created using Audible Sight: https://lnkd.in/eEfnGben Our new release lets you choose between Extended, Standard, or a hybrid of both. You can easily drag and drop the audio descriptions where needed. Or let our AI-enabled engine automatically place the descriptions exactly where they belong. If the description says, "a black dog is running in a field", our technology automatically places that description precisely where there's a black dog running in a field. It prevents overtalking of any dialogue in the original video. You can use a simple text editor to edit the descriptions. Maybe you want to change it to say "a black puppy is running in a field of tall grass". A lifelike synthetic voice immediately changes the audio description to match your edits. You have your choice of 65 different voices (we don't use any robot-sounding voices). For the sake of 285 million blind and visually impaired people, make all your videos accessible by adding audio descriptions. Video accessibility is essential for full inclusion in our society, in education, government communications, and information of all kinds. Start now—it's easy, fast, and affordable. Let's make the world more accessible.

Audible Sight is honored to have been selected as the exclusive provider of audio description for the BlindCAN film festival. The festival took place in Tallahassee, Florida on April 6. This is an annual film festival for blind film directors. We created audio descriptions for their information/promotion videos, short videos, and long form films. Audio description is for blind people what captioning is for hearing-impaired persons. Without audio description, visually impaired persons are shut out. We salute Ben Fox, the founder of the blindCAN Film Festival, and the entire BlindCAN Film Festival team for their unwavering dedication to empowerment and inclusivity. Together we are illuminating the path towards a future where every voice is heard and every story is told. And 20 million more Americans can join the rest of us in accessing the universe of video content. According to Fox, "Audible Sight was able to create accurate and wonderful audio description for the BlindCAN Film Festival, quickly and better than anyone else. The blind community was able to enjoy their movie experience with open audio description with their sighted friends and their family hearing it too. This was possible thanks to Audible Sight." Audible Sight reduces audio description worktime to a fraction. We invented this technology because there's a moral imperative to solve this vexing social dilemma: millions of Americans are blocked from accessing videos. Access to video content is not just a convenience but a necessity for inclusion. Congratulations to this year's short firm film award winner, Alayna Lopez. https://lnkd.in/edqmE8SX Ben Fox is a blind film director. He lost his eyesight to retinitis pigmentosa at 18 years old. Prior to that, Ben was accepted to the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. Since his diagnosis, Ben has rechanneled his energy, becoming a pioneer in the field of innovative approaches to helping visually impaired people to share their stories through art. #AudibleSight #InnovationForAll #BlindCANFilmFestival

Helping Assistive Technology companies bring revolutionary technology to market and making it available to those who can benefit from it.

Snippet #8 - Audible Sight This is my last review from #csun2024 and is different from the rest. It’s not about an assistive device but rather a platform for accessibility. I’ve met John Harrington and Ken Rybarczyk from Audible Sight at #ATIA2024 and spent more time with them at CSUN. They’ve created an intuitive, easy to use and surprisingly affordable platform for adding audio descriptions to any videos from feature films to 15 second snippets. I’ve been using it to add audio descriptions to my CSUN Snippets series and love how easy it is to make my videos more accessible. You just upload the video, click on an edit button to automatically add audio descriptions. Then you review/ edit them as needed. Finally, you click on one more button to download the video with the audio descriptions added. As simple as that! No technical expertise required to use it. Here’s a brief description from https://lnkd.in/geG5wHgh:  “Audible Sight is a computer vision application for content creators that rapidly adds audio description to any video, ensuring Section 508, WCAG and ADA compliance. Our vision is to open a universe of video content that is currently inaccessible for visually impaired persons, by making audio description as ubiquitous as closed captioning is for the hearing impaired.” I’d like to encourage you to give it a try. Whether you’re a company or an organization serving the BVI community or a mainstream business, making your videos accessible to all is something that you can easily do. Just for fun, I’ve recorded a video of my feathery flock. Here’s how Audible Sight describes it.

Hello friends, I just wanted to share this wonderful New tool that can automatically generate audio description for your own video content. For those who don’t know what audio description is here is a short explanation. Audio description, also known as video description or described video, is an additional audio track that provides narration of visual elements during pauses in dialogue. It's primarily designed to make television shows, movies, live performances, and other visual media accessible to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. The narrator describes key visual elements such as actions, settings, facial expressions, and scene changes, enabling people with visual impairments to fully understand and enjoy the content. #Inclusion #AudioDescription #AccessibleContent https://lnkd.in/gtjWXu36 Audio Description Project of the American Council of the Blind Audible Sight
