We were privileged to hear from James Kerr, the international best-selling author of 'Legacy: What the All Blacks Can Teach Us About The Business of Life,' as he delivered an inspiring keynote speech on leadership and culture to Army battalion command teams. His insights on building strong teams and fostering a culture of excellence transcends sport and resonates deeply in both military and corporate settings. James shared powerful lessons from his book, emphasizing how to be an impactful leader. One standout quote that encapsulated his message was: “Leaders don’t create followers; they create more leaders.” His address challenged us all to reflect on our leadership styles and the culture we foster within our teams. As we strive for greatness, it’s important to remember that effective leadership is not just about authority, but about empowering those around us. A big thank you to James for sharing his wisdom with our Army leaders and inspiring them to define their Legacy – leaving the force in a better place for those who follow! #AUSA2024 #JamesKerr #Legacy #Leadership #Culture #AUSACenterForLeadership

Pilot Program Aims to Ease Post-PCS Child Care Costs A new Department of Defense pilot program will reimburse service members up to $1,500 in travel-related expenses for temporary child care after a permanent change-of-station move. If a service member at their new duty station finds that child care at the local child development center won’t be available within 30 days of their report date, “then the member would become eligible to bring a child care provider to their permanent duty station to look after the child while the member reports to work and their spouse begins to do all those things like unpacking or finding their next job," Christopher Woods, chief of the policy branch within the Defense Travel Management Office, said in a DoD news release. The @USArmy has used the rugged and reliable pack mule to move supplies at least since the Mexican War in 1846. The mule has been the mascot of Army Football since 1899. So, in honor of #NationalMuleDay, read about how the mule's role is now filled by semi-autonomous vehicles like the Small Multipurpose Equipment Transport in November's ARMY Magazine: https://loom.ly/qip_fn8 #AUSAorg #AUSA #USArmy

Robinson: Sustainment Critical to Aviation Mission Innovation and forward repair capabilities will be critical to the Army aviation enterprise as the service prepares for large-scale combat operations, a senior leader said. In remarks at a Hot Topic on Army aviation hosted by the Association of the U.S. Army, Maj. Gen. Lori Robinson, commanding general of Army Aviation and Missile Command, pointed out that the supply chain for aviation parts is still experiencing delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic that began in 2020. Relying on the sustainment capacity resident in the continental United States is not enough to ensure aviation platforms are at their highest state of readiness, particularly in the Indo-Pacific theater, she said. “The concept of integrated deterrence applies to our ability to sustain as much as it applies to our ability to operate, so being able to regenerate readiness at the point of need is a form of deterrence,” Robinson said.
