A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined us this week for White Cane Day at the Texas School for the Blind. For those of you who weren't able to join us, we want to share a bit of history with you: In October 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson proclaimed October 15 as White Cane Safety Day, recognizing the white cane as a symbol of independence for individuals with visual impairments. Here in Austin, we’ll be celebrating with a walk from City Hall to the Capitol, raising awareness and celebrating this important day.
