As a proud member of the African Youth Antimicrobial Alliance Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance and Sustainable Development Goals (AYARA-TF AMR and SDG), we successfully hosted a webinar under the timely theme 'Understanding AMR & SDGs: Opportunities for Youth Action'. This informative and engaging webinar aimed to raise awareness about the interconnectedness of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the critical role of youth in addressing these pressing global health challenges. The webinar specifically focused on the intersections between AMR and four key SDGs: 1. SDG 1: No Poverty- Highlighting the economic burden of AMR on individuals, communities, and healthcare systems. 2. SDG 2: Zero Hunger - Exploring the impact of AMR on food security, agriculture, and nutrition. 3. SDG 5: Gender Equality- Discussing the disproportionate effects of AMR on women and girls, particularly in low-resource settings. 4. SDG 13: Climate Action - Examining the connections between AMR, climate change, and environmental sustainability. Through this webinar, we empowered young people with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to take action against AMR and contribute to achieving the SDGs. By leveraging the energy, creativity, and commitment of youth, we can build a stronger, more resilient global response to AMR and accelerate progress towards a healthier, more sustainable future for all. Gratitude goes to our speakers who shared their expert insights and knowledge on this crucial conversation. #AMR #SDGs #Youths #AYARA

I always remind my teammates at Tanzania Health Awake that we are young, energetic, and determined. We should never underestimate our knowledge or the impact of our work. Quitting is not an option—it could be a sign of discouragement and would make us even more vulnerable to the public health challenges we are fighting against. Advocacy has both tough and rewarding moments, but ensuring good health and well-being is our ultimate goal. We must remain consistent and resilient. Flexibility is key, and in a short time, we have already achieved impactful projects. Let’s keep up the momentum. It’s not easy, but it’s meaningful. Advocate Ismail P. Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor: From night shifts in hospital pharmacy to co-founding Zihi Institute , 2024 showed me how individual moments of patient care connect to global health transformation. This year crystallized my understanding of how grassroots action drives systemic change: • Co-founded Zihi Institute to address overlooked drivers of infectious diseases • Represented Zihi Institute and African Youth Antimicrobial Resistance Alliance Task Force (AYARA-TF) at the 4th Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on AMR • Launched Fahamu UVIDA program supporting tertiary students in Kenya • Completed pharmacy internship at Kenyatta University Teaching Hospital • Appointed Head of Programs at Students Against Superbugs Africa • Elected Secretary General of the PSK - Young Pharmacists Group Three posts that captured our journey toward better global health: "Life is both fragile and resilient" - On discovering how night shifts in pharmacy reveal healthcare's deepest truths https://lnkd.in/dtdmaMjq "Last week I was privileged to represent Zihi Institute" - Speaking for African youth at the Global AMR Conference https://lnkd.in/dQ8x6bUk "I'm happy to share that I'm starting a new position as Co-Founder" - Taking the leap to build solutions for overlooked health challenges https://lnkd.in/dc-NWUPa Looking ahead: 2025 will focus on expanding Zihi Institute's impact across Africa while strengthening youth leadership in global health security. Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor: I'm elated to share how #2024 taught me that scientific impact comes not just from research papers, but from transforming that knowledge into community action. From publishing in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy to coordinating grassroots #WAAW2024 activities reaching thousands, this year proved that bridging research and community advocacy creates real change in the fight against #AMR. Key milestones that shaped our impact: → Published research on community pharmacists' role in antimicrobial stewardship in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy → Published research on COVID-19 Vaccine Acceptance and Hesitancy among Healthcare Workers at a Teaching Hospital in Zambia: Findings and Implications in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy → Coordinated education campaigns reaching 28 secondary schools → Represented African youths under African Youth Antimicrobial Resistance Alliance Task Force (AYARA-TF) at the World Food Forum One Health Assembly → Transitioned to Pre-registration Pharmacist role at Cimas Health Group → Led Generational Stewards for Antimicrobials (GSA) most extensive WAAW campaign yet → Spearheading the preparations of the IPSF African Regional Office (IPSF AfRO) 13th African Pharmaceutical Symposium as the vice-chairperson. → Participated at the #RENOFARM FAO Multistakeholder workshop https://lnkd.in/dFg49jA9 Three posts that captured our mission: "Are We Truly Prepared for the Next Big Global Pandemic?" On Sir Alexander Fleming's prophecy and why proactive AMR prevention matters more than ever https://lnkd.in/dfbpsdcf "Community Pharmacists' Knowledge on AMR" How empowering pharmacists strengthens our defense against resistance https://lnkd.in/dEKPKVYu "The Magical Power of Molecular Docking" When innovation in research methodology reveals nature's solutions https://lnkd.in/dDHMpDHc Looking ahead: 2025 marks my transition to registered pharmacist while expanding evidence-based AMR interventions through global youth networks. The silent pandemic of antimicrobial resistance demands both rigorous science and community action - and we're just getting started. To every young scientist and advocate fighting AMR: your research matters, your voice matters, and together we're building an #AMRfreegeneration. #AMR #OneHealth #UNGAHLM2024 #ActNow #LinkedInRewind #2024wrapped -- Get your 2024 LinkedIn Rewind!
