Ayres’ Burbank, CA, office staff gathered for their monthly social get-together at their favorite local restaurant, Finney’s Crafthouse & Kitchen. The conversation was as good at the food!

United by nature, committed to restoration! This dedicated team stands together to promote the power of collaboration in promoting low tech process based restoration. (Watch for an article on the topic in our soon-to-publish summer issue of our Trends magazine!) The group, comprised of representatives from Ayres, the Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed, and Colorado State University, posed for a pic after a recent stakeholder meeting.

School spirit, pride, and friendly rivalries were in full force today as we held an informal “alma mater day” across our various offices. With today being #NationalInternDay, we thought wearing apparel representing our alma mater, favorite school, team, or hometown might foster connections among the 25 interns on board with us this summer. Our Eau Claire, WI, office went as far to even hold a tailgate bash over the lunch hour.

Ayres celebrates the service of Brett Karns, PLS, and all of our team’s veterans on National Hire a Veteran Day. Brett – a professional land surveyor in our Madison, WI, office – retired from the U.S. Army Reserves in 2023 after 26 years of service as an engineer officer. He served two tours in Afghanistan and one tour in Kuwait, including time as director of public works for an 8,000-person base camp. If you’ve served in the military – or know someone who has – check Ayres’ many career openings at www.Ayres.Careers.

Ayres’ Green Bay, WI, office sought to empower girls in grades three through eight to pursue careers within the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math fields as part of the YWCA TechGYRLS 2024 summer program. The 12 young visitors participated in a hands-on bridge project, visited a construction site, listened to an engineering presentation, and enjoyed a drone demonstration.

Cooperation paved the way for excellent results on the transformation of Fairfax Street along the east edge of Eau Claire, WI. Ayres provided construction observation on the project. Closure of the street allowed for steady progress on the largely commercial street. Businesses and residents along Fairfax have been very helpful, including Dunkin’ on Hastings Way, which allowed semi-trucks to go through its drive-thru to make deliveries to neighboring businesses whose loading areas face the closed Fairfax. Contractors Trierweiler Companies and Haas Sons dedicated multiple crews to get the job done quickly. The results? Much improved. Fairfax was reconfigured into one driving lane and one bike lane in each direction from its previous two narrow lanes in each direction. Walkers get a multiuse trail on one side and sidewalk on the other. A flashing beacon will help pedestrians cross Fairfax at one juncture, and conspicuously marked crosswalks will help protect pedestrians crossing at three other locations. Thanks to all involved, the project opened this morning – well ahead of schedule!

These are Division III facilities? That’s sure to be the reaction of many as they experience University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire athletics and other events at The Sonnentag, the Ayres-designed complex comprising a 4,000-seat event center, turfed fieldhouse, and Mayo diagnostic imaging and sports medicine center. Check out this inside look at facilities that look more like what you’d expect in Division I.
