Creating an Arizona where all children thrive
About us
Through research, publications, media campaigns, and advocacy, CAA seeks to influence policies and decisions affecting the lives of Arizona children and their families on issues related to health, child abuse and neglect, early care and education, budget and taxes, juvenile justice, children and immigration, and working families. CAA works toward a future in which all children have health insurance, no child is raised in poverty and hunger, every child enters school ready to learn and succeed, no child endures the ravages of abuse and neglect, every child has a place to call home, and struggling teens have the support they need to become responsible adults.

Investing public funds in child care is a game changer for a family’s prosperity and the economy overall. This election ask the candidates about their plans to increase access to child care. “Every dollar spent on a program providing free, full-time day care for preschoolers generated $6 in economic benefits. Most of that return came from extra pay that parents could earn because they had additional hours of care for their kids.”

Thank you Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for highlighting food insecurity at this year’s DATOS. The 2022 data shows that Latinos in almost all Arizona counties are experiencing higher levels of food insecurity than the overall population. We know that Latinos were significantly less food insecure in 2021 when the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) was temporarily enhanced. What policy change makes a difference? Let’s ensure Congress strengthens and protects SNAP from any cuts in the Farm Bill, including proposed restrictions in updates to the Thrifty Food Plan that would result in a $30 billion cut over the next decade. #DATOSAZ

💙 It's Kinship Caregiver Month, a time to honor those stepping in to care for children when they need it most! This year, the Annie E. Casey Foundation highlighted that over 50% of children in Arizona’s foster care system are in kinship placements, making AZ a top state for kinship care. Let's give our thanks to these caregivers and continue to push for policies that support their success. Key actions include reducing barriers to licensing, providing equitable financial support, and recognizing the needs of unlicensed caregivers.
