It has only been a few months since we opened the doors on the expansion and the Baird Ballroom has already become interwoven into the fabric of our community as the site of dozens of non-profit galas and fundraisers. This weekend we hosted the Black and White Ball, with our own Marty Brooks giving a video salute to the Greater Milwaukee Urban League, an organization that holds a special place in his heart. It was a special night of #empowerment, #equity and #community for the attendees and the people working to keep Milwaukee a city on the move.

We are excited to announce that Baird Center has been named a Center of Excellence by Exhibitor Magazine, the premier publication for best practices in trade show and event marketing. 🏆 👏 😃 It is an incredible honor to be recognized alongside other notable venues such as Atlanta Convention Center at AmericasMart, Colorado Convention Center and Bellco Theatre, Indiana Convention Center & Lucas Oil Stadium, Los Angeles Convention Center, San Diego Convention Center Corporation and Seattle Convention Center who help raise the bar for amenities, attendee experience and customer service within the meetings, conventions and events industry. Art can be a lot of different things to people. For artist Nova Czarnecki it means many things, but above all else it is a way to find healing. “I have always liked painting figures. One time I was painting a figure of a woman and I decided I was going to work through some of my own stuff, so I decided to start adding pieces of nature to replace parts of the body, to literally replace the trauma with the power and beauty of nature. This is how painting evolved into this healing type of prayer for me.” Nova has two pieces on display in Baird Center as part of the We Energies Foundation Art Collection. Both pieces incorporate her unique interpretation of the human spirit and its communion with the natural world. "The Great Unthawing" depicts a young man walking through a Wisconsin woods as the state transitions from winter into spring, while "Honeyed" shows a woman being embraced by nature as summer turns to autumn. Artist Nova Czarnecki always had a vivid imagination and creative spirit. When she found a set of tiny oil paint at the age of ten, she was forever hooked.
