At Bakelite, we take our involvement in our local communities seriously - but this doesn’t mean that we don’t like to have a good time. Product Stewardship and Sustainability Specialist Justyne Willman recently had the opportunity to showcase fun and impressive science experiments to a young group of students at a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) event at her children’s school in Indiana. Along with the fun and excitement that comes with demonstrating phase separation, making oobleck, and exploring the properties of acids and bases with the Orange Fizz experiment, Justyne made sure to focus on the importance of keeping safety first and always utilizing proper personal protective equipment (#PPE). As a result, we have pledged to rigorously monitor energy performance and implement energy management strategies based on ENERGY STAR guidelines. 🌎 Additionally, we developed and launched renewable energy initiatives at four sites. 🌎 For the second year, we published our verified Scope 1-3 greenhouse gas emissions. 🌎 We engaged with customers in the development of new products with reduced carbon footprint, and defined sustainable attributes across the product portfolio.
