Homecoming isn’t just a weekend to return to campus and see friends-it’s an important weekend for Foundations and Alumni Associations to reconnect with past and future donors. Weekends like this strengthen ties with alumni, reminding them of their personal connection to the school. This past Friday night, amidst the Homecoming festivities, Cardinals came together to celebrate the spirit of giving at our Power of Beneficence event. The event marked a year since the public launch of the "Our Call to Beneficence" capital campaign, the most ambitious campaign in the University's history. Attendees were treated to a presentation hosted by Jill Lacy and Patrick Alderdice that featured multiple panels discussing exciting projects and developments made possible by donor support. This evening also saw two champions of Ball State University honored with prestigious awards. Hollis E Hughes Jr was presented with the Distinguished Alumni Award, which is the highest award that can be bestowed upon a Ball State Alumnus. John Worthen was presented with the Honorary Alumni Award, which honors people who are not graduates of the University but have made significant contributions towards its welfare, reputation, or prestige. Thank you to all who contributed to making this event possible and who continue to carry the spirit of Beneficence in their everyday lives. #ForBallState #AnswerTheCall

Last Tuesday, I was honored to receive the 2024 Student Engagement and Philanthropy Award from the Ball State University Foundation I received this award due to my involvement in promoting philanthropy initiatives and extending the Foundation’s mission through my involvement with Philanthropy Education Council and my work as a student employee since this past summer. I’m thankful for all the opportunities Ball State has provided me and look to continuing this work Congrats to the other recipient, Alex Buxton, you have done fantastic work with the Foundation and are very deserving of this honor.

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of returning to my alma mater Ball State University for homecoming to graciously accept the 2024 Graduate of the Last Decade award with my friends and family. When I say that Ball State changed the trajectory of my life, I truly mean it. I’ll never forget the moment I opened up an envelope from the Honors College in 2012 sharing the news that I was a recipient of a full tuition academic scholarship. Because of the generosity of previous donors to the university, I find it important to give back to Ball State as much as I can to ensure the next generation can find their purpose. From mentoring current students in the Ball State University - Miller College of Business to serving on the Ball State University Foundation Young Alumni Council to supporting the university financially on One Ball State Day, it’s been my way of saying thank you to a place that’s given me so much. This weekend was the honor of a lifetime and reminded me how proud I am to be an alumnus of Ball State University. Chirp! Chirp!

Homecoming 2024! It was a wonderful (and very busy) couple of days in Muncie but oh so worth it to be able to celebrate Ball State University and connect with so many passionate Ball State alumni, friends, and fans. Looking forward to next year! Ball State University Foundation
