We recently completed the erection of the second monumental stair in the lobby of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Children's Medical and Surgical Center. This stair is unique due to its helical design and will be finished with a glass and stainless-steel handrail on the overlook side of the stair and terrazzo treads.

Wexford Science & Technology, LLC’s 4MLK building is a 250,000-square-foot facility in Baltimore that will be utilized by biotech and life sciences companies and will feature state-of-the-art labs, offices, co-working and convening spaces. Our project scope was to install the stairs and rails leading to the rooftop dunnage platform where the generators will be located after SteelFab, Inc. completed the structural framing. We also fabricated the rails for the interior stairs which provide access to the building from all 8 floors and the roof. The project broke ground in Fall 2022 and should be completed later this year.

We’re excited to be working on the National Geographic Society Museum in Washington, DC - a 13 ton miscellaneous and structural steel project with GC HITT Contracting Inc. and P&E Engineering. We recently began installing the custom fabricated pavilion vestibule steel support structures for the entryways into the museum. During our design process it was imperative to create a cohesive support structure that adhered to the architect’s vision and would allow follow-up trades to install lighting, speakers, sprinklers, doors, glass, security and video recording systems. The project is slated to be finished in early 2025. Stay tuned as we continue to share updates on this exciting project!

We’d like to thank our 3 longest tenured employees for growing with us and being a pivotal part of our success over the last 10 years. Pictured from left to right: Jerry Taylor, Senior Estimator, hired in 2015; Kevin Taylor, Senior Project Manager, hired in 2016 and Will Connelly, Project Manager hired in 2019. Fun Fact: These guys not only work hard, they play hard too. Jerry, Kevin and Will are all avid fishermen and recently attended a fishing tournament together with Building America Stronger Welding LLC.

Recently, our interns wrapped up their summer by giving a presentation on their experience with Baltimore Fabrication. During their time with us, they contributed to a wide variety of day-to-day tasks including estimating, scheduling, compiling change orders and data mining. Sebastian, who attends Towson University and Pablo, who attends Morgan State University, will be staying on with us during the school semester for an extended internship. It’s been exciting to watch them develop a passion for the industry and we're looking forward to what the future holds for these two young men.

“We have enjoyed working with Mark R., Scott Foreman and Baltimore Fabrication since 2017. Our first project together was at the Brown Advisory. It was a very challenging project due to the existing conditions, geometry of the stairs and the restricted access. Scott was the lead for this project and he not only figured out difficult details during the drawing process but also executed those details precisely on site. Two other notable projects we completed together were the Alexander Brown Restaurant and the Candler Building Lobby and Exterior Renovation Project which included the canopy at the Blackwall Hitch Restaurant. We wish them a happy 10 year anniversary and all the success in the future.” - Franz Fearnley, Constantine Commercial Construction

We recently enjoyed a beautiful evening at Camden Yards with Robert Johel, Vice President of SteelFab, Inc., Executive Vice President Curt McCaskill of SteelFab, Inc. (Virginia) and trade partners from DPR Construction. The O's crushed the Chicago White Sox 9-0.

Another pivotal turning point for our young company was the Brown Advisory project in 2017. Seamlessly blending form and function, the helically bent staircase showcases our expertise in precision metalwork and our commitment to delivering high-quality, aesthetically pleasing solutions. The design features elegant curves and a sleek, modern finish, highlighting the meticulous craftsmanship involved in its creation. This project not only exemplifies our technical capabilities but also our ability to collaborate closely with clients to bring their architectural visions to life. We’d like to thank Michael Constantine from Constantine Commercial Construction for giving us the opportunity to fabricate our very first monumental stair which opened the door to future larger scale commercial work.
