Normally, a court doesn't lambaste a local zoning board. But that's just what the Land Court did to the Concord ZBA recently, showing the depth of judicial concern over municipal roadblocks to new housing, Christopher R. Vaccaro writes.

Massachusetts’ newest mutual holding company combination will see banks on opposite sides of Massachusetts join forces. Jeanne M. Nutt, IIDA is stepping down from her post co-leading Gensler's Boston office after 25 years -- a period that saw the office grow from 35 to over 150 staff and make a big impact on the area's built environment. "My success is always going to be defined by the success of my folks," she told us in this Q&A reflecting on her tenure. "That’s watching the first time somebody is presenting who hasn’t done it before, someone who is starting to take on a new project type, or who becomes interested in learning something that they hadn’t known about before."

🏗️ Boylston Properties' proposal for a 13-story tower near the Alewife MBTA station has broken cover! The company wants to build 236 apartments at 745 Concord Ave. in a neighborhood – the Alewife Quadrangle – that's at the front line of Greater Boston's shifting development economics. First reimagined as a mixed industrial-residential neighborhood by Cambridge city planners, major developers snapped up big swaths of the area for top dollar during the pandemic, fueled by visions of a life science campus to mirror that at the MBTA Red Line station nearby. Now, the pendulum is swinging the other way. More details on the Hacin and HDS-designed building in our story here: https://lnkd.in/eeD3F-FQ Background on the market shift in our story from last September here: https://lnkd.in/eJsQYbwK
