Vote for BBT! Voting is open through the end of October for the AIA Bend People's Choice Award. This year, BBT has nominated the Robert. D. Maxwell Center at Bend Senior High School. Students, educators, and visitors are connected to both place and history through the school’s namesake, Robert D. Maxwell, a past teacher who received the Medal of Honor for his heroism in World War II. Perseverance Hall, the large meeting and testing space on the second floor honors the veteran alumni such as the members of the Bend High School Championship Football team of 1940, all of whom each player and coach served in World War II. Project Architect Nathanael Werner, AIA, NCARB and his family visited Central Oregon Community College's interactive open house yesterday at the Redmond Technology Center. The event included a showcase of each program at college. The Werners were able to observe CNC manufacturing, 3D printing, welding and carving machines presented by the Manufacturing and Applied Technology Center, and participated by hammering some nails home with the construction Apprenticeship department. The highlight was likely the STEM/CTE featuring robotics. Designed 10 years ago, the Redmond Technology Center highlights how flexible teaching spaces can adapt to changing education and community needs as programs develop. #bbtarchitects #cocc #STEM #oregonarchitecture
