We spent #EqualPayDay by celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. This law helped to make equal pay laws more enforceable. We were surrounded by people celebrating this and many past achievements, but also confronting current gender pay obstacles and strategizing systems for change. We want to thank all of the participants who shared their insight and energized the group: Lilly Ledbetter, Fair Pay Icon Amy-Willard Cross, Founder, Gender Fair C. Nicole Mason, President & CEO Future Forward Women, The New York Women's Foundation Holly Corbett Corbet, Journalist, Forbes Illana Raia, Founder of Être Girls Kate Kelley, EVP, LILLY Social Action Campaign Kristin Molinari Cohen, Chief Marketing Officer, sparks & honey Uma Mehta Iyer, Chief External Affairs Officer, National Women's Law Center Women’s Law Center This event was a clear reminder that we have a long way to go but that there are so many dedicated and talented people doing the work. 💪 #WomensHistoryMonth #EqualPay #GenderEquality #IBuyGenderFair

We leverage data to accelerate equality and eradicate the fairness gap.
About us
Gender Fair empowers consumers, employees and investors to support companies that share their values for equality. Founded in 2016 as a public benefit corporation, Gender Fair developed a proprietary, independent, and expert-reviewed rating system designed to measure the impact of gender equality policies and inclusion programs at the nation’s largest employers. Its approach is informed by the United Nations’ Women’s Empowerment Principles. Gender Fair leverages data to accelerate equality with metrics that analyze five major categories: leadership, employee policies, advertising, diversity and social responsibility. Data is sourced from publicly available reports from the company, such as SEC filings and sustainability reports. Results of our thorough analysis are published and publicized as the Gender Fair Index – a ranked list of companies that serve women best. This important information has never been available in a single source and actionable until now, despite the fact that women are the world’s most powerful consumers. About 15% percent of the several hundred companies analyzed have achieved Gender Fair standards and are eligible for certification. Certified Gender Fair companies have demonstrated a measurable commitment to equality and diversity.

Gender Fair founder Amy-Willard Cross makes the case for the urgent need to grow the FDP (Female Domestic Product) in her TIME article 'How Women Can Use Their Financial Power to Create Change.' Currently the FDP accounts for only a sliver of the GDP pie. But when the FDP grows, more money will go into women’s hands to create change. Gender Fair: A Public Benefit Corporation reposted this
Founder at Gender Fair. Obsessed by "The Female Domestic Product" or #FDP. Unleashing a consumer revolution. Rating companies, colleges or nonprofits on how they support women--so people can not pay for sexism.
It cost over $150,000. This ad in Sunday's New York Times is paid for by a company founded by a woman. Glossier isn't afraid to talk politics. Glossier knows what its customers hold to be important. Glossier, Inc. cares about women beyond the revenues they deliver. Things like this ad are exactly why I want to see more woman-founded (and partially woman funded ) companies prosper and grow the female domestic product. Women's dollars are women's speech thanks to Citizens United. Women's dollars can fight for women and elect women. buy poor women the reproductive care they need. As the copy says: Vote for your grandmother's legacy. Vote for you To learn more about the Female Domestic Product see my story in TIME. https://lnkd.in/ePWS6BCU? This week, we mourned the loss of Lilly Ledbetter and vow to carry on with her work.
Founder at Gender Fair. Obsessed by "The Female Domestic Product" or #FDP. Unleashing a consumer revolution. Rating companies, colleges or nonprofits on how they support women--so people can not pay for sexism.
Last night I was sad to hear of the death of Lilly Ledbetter. Sadder still to know that she did not live to see her name on movie marquees across the country. She died shortly after Friday's Hamptons International Film Festival premiere of the film about her life. I hope her story inspires millions to fight on behalf of others as she did. Despite being shortchanged by $200,000+ over 20 years at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company tires, Ledbetter never received a dime--although one court awarded damages. Yet she lobbied for legislation that bore her name--the first piece of Legislation Barack Obama signed into law. Gender Fair is a partner in the social action campaign for the film; we will follow Ledbetter's lead -- and work hard to make change. I am grateful to Kate Kelley Kristin Molinari Cohen and the sparks & honey team for putting on this event with us back in March with Ms Ledbetter. She was a power.

🍿 Lilly Ledbetter fought for fair pay for decades - at first for herself and family and then for everyone. 🍿 And this week, Advertising Week honored her with the first ever Future is Female Lifetime Achievement Award. 🎥 Writer and director, Rachel Feldman, accepted the award on Lilly's behalf and unveiled a clip at the invite-only event of her upcoming film LILLY (about Lilly!), starring Patricia Clarkson. To have Lilly's work honored by the advertising community is monumental because media has the power to change culture. As Rachel said, "Lilly is an icon and a hero because she propelled history forward. That is something that activism has in common with advertising." Gender Fair tracks equal pay and is a proud partner in the upcoming social action campaign for LILLY. 💸💸💸 Kate Kelley Amy-Willard Cross #equalpay #payequity #workersrights #lillyledbetter #lillyfilm #socialaction #genderfair #futureisfemale

We love learning about companies that are doing it right. thoughtbot sure does. It's even better that they know the value of communicating that to all their stakeholders with Gender Fair certification. Thoughtbot has high levels of women's leadership--for a tech company especially-- paid parental leave, transparent pay systems and provides material support to #femalefounders These are the kind of vendors we hope businesses support.
thoughtbot works to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for our community. We are excited to share more information on our Gender Fair certification and how you can get involved yourself.

Congratulations to our partners at Chamber of Mothers for keeping on the pressure to deliver affordable childcare for Americans. Rep. Ro Khanna will introduce a bill to Congress this week on Childcare and TIME quotes Erin Erenberg on its importance: "Almost 70,000 Americans reported missing work last month due to childcare problems, according to the Labor Department. Working mothers, in particular, face the brunt of this burden, with data indicating they were nearly three times as likely as fathers to take time off for childcare last year. “This is a crisis in our community,” says Erin Erenberg, CEO of Chamber of Mothers. “I hear from too many mothers who are not able to afford childcare and don’t have paid leave… If we are truly pro-life and pro-family, we have to put our money where our mouth is and invest in family health and security.” Moms First MomsRising.org https://lnkd.in/gMbXCi-c

We love SEEHER's new campaign from Curiosity! Authentic representation matters and Gen Alpha girls are already driving buying behavior now and even more so in the future. How companies portray girls and women in advertising are a key metric that goes into the Gender Fair score.
🚨 Women and girls are a powerhouse for brands!🚨 Our new "She Matters. Bottom Line." campaign, in partnership with Curiosity, shines a spotlight on the unstoppable spending power of women and girls—especially Gen Alpha! By 2029, Gen Alpha will be responsible for a staggering $5.46 trillion in spending. And with 74% of consumers saying representation is key, brands that don’t authentically represent women and girls will miss out on serious growth opportunities! Did you know? Only 16% of women feel accurately represented in media. But when brands get it right, there's a 10x sales lift among female households. It's time for change—let's make sure all women and girls are seen, heard, and valued! Check out this campaign featuring girls hustling hard and spending smart, from lemonade stands to lawn-mowing, showing just how much they matter.

Gender Fair joined this exciting Activation of Art, Climate & Women's Rights this weekend. We got to march with partners such as Vote Run Lead ERA Coalition Take The Lead Women National Organization for Women and sing along with some talented cast members from "Suffs". It's a powerful reminder that working together is how we will make progress for the planet and its earthlings and women's rights.
What an amazing day of Art & Action on saturday in NYC for our “Mobilization for Women’s Rights and the Planet” when my sculpture was on view in Madison Square Park with the fantastic Tony-Award Winning cast of SUFFs musical Amazing Speakers + Partners, to kick-off #ClimateWeek. We had a great program near the sculpture, then SUFFs led us with a joyous walk through NYC with their great March song, and hundreds of us wearing white, to carry on the tradition of suffragists for women’s rights, to the High Line on a stunningly gorgeous day. Fire trucks honked in support and people gave us high fives as we walked to NANCY HOFFMAN GALLERY INC in Chelsea. There I showed my new film about the creative process for the feminist history tree ring and landing on a big call to vote in this election, and gave an artist tour of my solo exhibition YOU ARE HERE (up until Oct 19th if you want to come visit). After that people had lunch together and there was a powerful partner workshops by the National Organization for Women at Pier 57! It was an incredible experience. A big thank you to Elisa Parker and Lauren Schiller for helping me produce it all to help the magic that happened!! Photo credit to the spectacular photographer who captured it all with such style: Daphne Youree Please see our amazing speakers and partners below! Good things happen when you bring together people who all believe in the same thing like women’s rights and keeping our planet healthy! Gender Fair founder Amy-Willard Cross has been featured in TIME discussing a groundbreaking concept—the Female Domestic Product (#FDP). In her article, "How Women Can Use Their Financial Power to Create Change," she highlights the growing impact of women's economic influence and how it’s only a glimpse of what’s possible. The #FDP represents the full potential of women's economic power—if fully tapped, it could drive transformative change in society and beyond.
