A quick morning visit with Superintendent Matt Oswald and the crew at The Thaddeus Stevens & Lydia Hamilton Smith Center for History & Democracy to check-in on the progress so far! The job was action packed with crews on every floor! Drywall installation continues on the second and third floors, with multiple teams focusing on wrapping up the MEPs (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), and rough framing on the lower floors. Another milestone includes the large metal stairway connecting the first floor to the future lower level displays. Quick updates on the progress downtown - Phase 1 of the HDC MidAtlantic College Ave Development is moving along nicely. Crews can be seen lifting construction materials to the 3rd floor, as the exterior walls are being built. Coming up are 2 more floors of construction, followed by the roof. The project lead by Superintendent Dave Dreer, Foreman Mike Roten, Project Manager Andrew Figlio, and Assistant PM Luis E. Justo, CACM are keeping things running like clockwork. The building is starting to take shape as we continue to go vertical. Another month, another update for the Kendal~Crosslands Communities campus at Longwood! Join Project Manager Don Weeks, and Assistant Project Manager Wyatt McMartin as they take us through the latest construction progress. In the video we can see progress is being made on getting roof trusses set, in preparation for roof sheathing and shingles. Additional exterior items include the foundation and structural steel for the carports and walkways, and exterior waterproofing in advance of the windows and doors being installed. On the interior MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) rough-ins are underway with crews seen working on installing the sprinkler piping in the hallways. October Project Update: WellSpan Health York Hospital Expansion Exciting progress continues on the WellSpan York project, a joint venture led by LF Driscoll. This month, we’ve completed the necessary foundation for the tower crane, and placed the bottom section of the crane on the base, a major step in gearing up for vertical construction! We’re also making great headway with underground mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) rough-ins, with 60% of Area C complete and the slab on grade pour scheduled for the beginning of November. As part of our preparation, we’re finalizing foundation walls in advance of this critical milestone. On top of that, we’re nearing the completion of our remaining Support of Excavation (SOE) walls by the end of the month, setting the stage for full excavation.
