  • Interesting opportunity! About the role Ecologists work in a range of settings from statutory agencies, governments, through to NGOs and environmental consultancies. It is important that we understand the needs of these ecologists and provide support and opportunities for them. The Ordinary Member representing this ecological community on our board of trustees plays an integral part in how we do this as a society. The ideal person will be enthusiastic about bridging the gap between research and practice and be contributing to real world change through their work in ecology. In return you will get to influence the future of the BES and ecology by working with exceptional ecologists at the top of their game, meeting as a board of trustees four times a year and for our fun and energising annual strategy retreat

🌲🍃 Introducing Our New Forest Ecology SIG Chair! 🍃🌲 We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Henrike Schulte to Bühne (Henny) as the new Chair of the British Ecological Society's Forest Ecology Special Interest Group (SIG)! With her extensive experience and passion for forest ecology, she brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to our community. As we continue to strive for excellence in forest ecology research and conservation, Henny will play a pivotal role in guiding our SIG towards achieving its goals. She will lead our efforts in fostering communication and collaboration among forest ecologists, facilitating the exchange of ideas and knowledge, and supporting the development of early career researchers. Henny is no stranger to the forest ecology community, working as a postdoctoral research associate at the Zoological Society of London, where her research focuses on the effects of climate change on forests across Europe. Under Henny's guidance, we look forward to: 🌿 Facilitating engaging discussions and activities within our community. 🌿 Providing valuable resources and support for researchers at all career stages. 🌿 Promoting awareness of important issues and developments in forest ecology. 🌿 Fostering collaborations and partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders. 🌿 Enhancing the impact of our research and advocacy efforts on forest conservation and management. We encourage all members of the forest ecology community to connect with Henny and share your ideas, suggestions, and aspirations for our SIG. Together, we can make a difference in understanding, protecting, and preserving the invaluable ecosystems of our forests. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Henny as our new Forest Ecology SIG Chair! We are excited about the journey ahead and the opportunities for growth and collaboration that lie ahead. Stay tuned for upcoming events, discussions, and initiatives as we embark on this new chapter together. British Ecological Society #forest #ecology
