Congrats to Mesa County News for hosting the Western Colorado Transportation Safety Symposium. We were honored to join this gathering of government officials, advocates, and other transportation professionals who care deeply about creating a safe and sustainable transportation system on the Western Slope. It was great to connect with folks from the new local advocacy group, the Grand Valley Streets Alliance. Check them out at www.gvstreetsalliance.org. There are many opportunities for Mesa County to be more bike- and pedestrian-friendly and GVSA is working hard to make a difference Bicycle Colorado was proud to make a presentation titled "Be a Voice for Change." No matter what your connection is to the transportation sector, every person can advocate for change.
About us
Bicycle Colorado is the nonprofit organization dedicated to building a bicycle-friendly Colorado. Our mission is to encourage and promote bicycling, increase safety, improve conditions and provide a voice for cyclists in Colorado. Established in 1992, we are supported by thousands of members who realize that we need to work together to protect the rights of bicyclists – or risk losing them. We work for more bike lanes and paths, better trails, education outreach and bicycle-friendly laws. Our efforts are primarily focused at the state and regional level since that’s where so many of the policy decisions that affect bicyclists are made.

Thank you to the over 4,000 riders who showed up yesterday for the Ride for Magnus: Ride for Your Life and those who participated virtually across the country. It was unbelievable and we are incredibly grateful to have stood and rode alongside all of you ... to show up, stand up, and speak up for change. Thank you to The White Foundation for allowing us to be a part of this ride and rally to honor your son Magnus and for your courage to be a new voice for change. A huge thank you to Governor Polis and all the other speakers, sponsors, and volunteers. Let's take action! Whether you joined the ride or not, you can take these 3 actions for safer biking: bit.ly/RideForMagnusPolicy The actions are quick and easy, but together we have the power to make meaningful change for all vulnerable road users.

From 2018–2024, the Colorado legislature passed twenty-six bike-, pedestrian-, and transit-friendly bills. Nine of those were passed in 2024! Check out more about each of these bills. Three important themes came through this year: - Concern with rising traffic fatalities, especially of vulnerable road users. - Active & public transportation can help Colorado achieve its greenhouse gas reduction goals. - Land use policy impacts access to biking, walking & public transit. Let's keep it going into 2025 & beyond! We need your help - learn how to TAKE ACTION: https://bit.ly/3IqAFL8

We are excited to welcome our new Bicycle Colorado Education Manager, Benedict. Benedict believes promoting cycling through education is needed to build safe communities, combat the climate crisis, and create a healthier and more equitable society. His two favorite bike memories are: - Exploring his Denver neighborhood growing up and enjoying the independence of his bike. - Riding bikes on the "truly magical" Aran Islands of Ireland with his dad.
