At Big Cartel, we’ve been fully remote for 15+ years with teammates located across the country. We have a company retreat twice a year to get together in person, for a bit of work and a lot of fun, to ensure we stay connected as humans and remember we’re more than pixels. A few weeks ago, we wrapped up our most recent retreat in Austin, Texas. In addition to perfect weather and delicious BBQ, it acted as a great reminder about how amazing this team is and why we are excited to work together every day. ...and that's a wrap! We just wrapped up Big Cartel's #IndieFest, our annual company retreat. This year it was in beautiful Park City where the weather couldn't have been better: 70F, sun and gorgeous fall landscape with leaves turning everywhere 🍁 In true Big Cartel style, we got had an assortment of activities to dive into, ranging from fly fishing and glass blowing to pickleball and disc golf. Personally, I was humbled by how difficult a disc is to throw compared a regular frisbee 🫣 The highlight though, was seeing so many faces I'm used to seeing in video chat, instead live and in person! You can't replace face-to-face interaction and the impromptu hilarity that ensures with this group of people. Thanks to the Big Cartel team for such a great week and special shoutout to Kathleen Lutheran our amazing Chief of Staff who organize this thing completely and made it magical for all of us.
