About us
Tony Iannessa founded BIG Construction with the desire to do things differently. He envisioned a company where people come first. Where collaboration builds strong relationships, and achievements are for sharing. A place where right-fit solutions trump legacy processes, and clients feel at ease as they’re guided through their projects. At BIG, we pride ourselves on a human-centered approach to construction. And because we know that projects can feel overwhelming, we’re driven to help clients navigate the terrain as seamlessly and smoothly as possible. Though we will continue to grow and evolve, we are firmly rooted in the foundation of our values: ideas, drive, trust, and build.

The river isn't the only thing looking green in Chicago! We’ve been seeing this vibrant color popping up in many of our projects recently. Here are a few interiors we've built where a little green goes a long way. ☘️ Numerator | Charlie Greene Studio, Christopher Barrett Grubhub | Shive-Hattery, Wayne Cable Confidential Digital Healthcare Company | HOK Home Chef | IA Interior Architects, Garrett Rowland

Nothing says St. Patty's in Chicago like a trolley! 🍀 Our huddle rooms are named after some of the city’s most iconic dive bars, and yesterday, we took the ultimate crawl to visit the rooms we work in every day. Now we can finally say, "Do you want to go to Snickers?" and actually mean it! Stay safe out there, Chicago, and enjoy the festivities!

We have green on our minds this week - but building a green job site has nothing to do with luck. 🍀 Early planning and intentional action from preconstruction to project management is how we make sure our builds are optimized all year round. It's how we achieved LEED Gold for Interpublic Group (IPG), located in the historic THE MART. Swipe to see our process!

We're beyond excited to support the launch of WWIRE: Wellness for Women In Real Estate's very first chapter here in Chicago! A huge shoutout to our incredible VP, Haley Gunst, who has been working super hard behind the scenes to create this community to unite and empower women in our industry. Join us in movement! Whether you’re interested in becoming a member or a sponsor, we’d love for you to get involved. Reach out to Haley Gunst or contact us directly for more details on how you can be part of our upcoming events.
STATUS UPDATE: WWIRE has officially LAUNCHED🚀! Three months ago, I got connected with Courtney Pirosko-Platzman and Stacie McBurney who were eager to team up to launch a chapter for WWIRE: Wellness for Women In Real Estate here in Chicago. When I learned more about their holistic approach to professional development and how seamlessly it aligned with my lifelong passion of health and wellness, I knew this was something I had to help bring to Chicago. The key here is that WWIRE is not just for workouts, it is a full wellness package. By focusing on the five key aspects of wellness: social, spiritual, chemical, structural, and emotional, WWIRE will encourage a different type of networking than Chicago is used to seeing. The biggest thank you to everyone who helped pull this together, including Sweat Sessions for hosting the most flawless event, Aubre Winters for teaching an empowering class, our sponsors (Innovant Inc., BIG Construction, and Cumming Group) and all of my friends, old and new, who attended and supported our launch. I am incredibly passionate about this project and excited for all of the things to come. Keep a lookout for all of our future announcements. And if you are interested in becoming a member or sponsor, please reach out! 📸 by Ben Lipowitz

Our quarterly outing with the incredible ladies of BIG couldn’t have been more perfect—just in time to celebrate International Women’s Day! Needless to say, things got a little “lit” at our candle-making class. With this amazing group of women, it's always a scentsational time! #TogetherWeRise #InternationalWomensDay #WICWeek #WomeninConstruction

This Women In Construction Week, we recognize the invaluable contributions of women in the construction industry—today and every day. We are proud to share that over 33% of our team is comprised of women, including members of our leadership team. Our goal is to increase that number to 50% for all salaried employees, over 5 times the national average. Through strategic hiring practices, our internship programs, and mentorship initiatives, we continue to create a workplace where women are empowered and supported at every step of their careers. Together, we’re building a stronger, more diverse future in construction. #TogetherWeRise #WICWeek #WomeninConstruction
