Johnson & Johnson has announced plans to invest more than $55 billion in the U.S. over the next four years, marking a 25% increase over the previous period. The initiative includes the construction of four new #manufacturing plants, starting with a high-tech facility in Wilson, North Carolina, designed to produce advanced medicines for patients across the globe. The other three locations have yet to be announced. Aside from building four new plants, Johnson & Johnson also plans to expand several existing sites and increase investments in #research and #development infrastructure and #technology. #lifesciences #expansion #pharma #indiana

Today, BioCrossroads was honored to welcome a delegation from Wallonia, Belgium’s nuclear medicine industry for a full day of site visits and conversations focused on expanding opportunities in #radiopharmaceuticals and nuclear medicine here in Indiana. The group visited Indiana University School of Medicine's University Hospital, explored SpectronRx’s Indianapolis facility, and received a behind-the-scenes look at DHL’s life sciences operations at the Indianapolis airport. We also gathered at the Indiana Biosciences Research Institute for an in-depth discussion with key leaders from across the sector, including representatives from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, Bloomington Economic Development Corporation, Indiana Life Sciences Association, Eli Lilly and Company, Novartis, Curium Pharma, and many others, exploring ways to grow this critical subsector through shared expertise, investment, and partnership. Indiana University Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health is integrating virtual reality training tools into its curriculum as part of a program in partnership with the National Network of Public Health Institutes. With two #R1 research universities now operating in Indianapolis, the city has a unique opportunity to position itself as a national leader in life sciences and #technology. At a recent The Economic Club of Indiana luncheon, Indiana University Indianapolis Chancellor Latha Ramchand and Purdue University in Indianapolis COO Dan Hasler outlined their vision for a reimagined innovation district, where research, industry, and academia intersect to drive economic growth and fuel scientific breakthroughs. IU Indianapolis is doubling down on life sciences with its planned IU Launch Accelerator for Biosciences (IU LAB), a $138 million facility at the 16 Tech Innovation District that will serve as a hub for biosciences research.
