AABB News recently caught up with Victoria Gray, the first patient ever to receive a CRISPR gene editing therapy for sickle cell disease (SCD) in a 2019 clinical trial. Eight months after the one-time treatment, Victoria has been able to live a pain-free, normal life. The success of this gene therapy led to the U.S. FDA commercial approval of Vertex Pharmaceuticals’ and CRISPR Therapeutics’ CASGEVY®, a gene therapy for SCD, in December of 2023. Victoria has since become a “sickle cell warrior” and advocates for the SCD community and the CRISPR gene therapy treatment for others. Have you read our latest study published in Cell & Gene Therapy Insights about the groundbreaking potential of the CellSeal® CryoCase®, a novel rigid container for preserving CAR-T cells? ❄️ The study in this white paper compares CAR-T cell fitness and function when cryopreserved in traditional cryobags, cryovials and the CryoCase. ❄️ The same controlled rate freezing profiles and methods were used across all three containers.
