These 25,000-pound (12.5 tons) vessels are being loaded onto trucks bound for New Mexico from the Port of Catoosa, in Oklahoma. What was ordered? TFG12 40’ Tuffy round slings (heavy-duty, olive slings with 66,000 pounds Working Load Limit in a vertical lift), 1-1/4-inch diameter by 12-feet long wire rope slings with 24-inch eyes on each end (made in house!), 120T Van Beest bolt type shackles, and a Miller 110-ton eye hook. There's also a 100-ton load cell in the rig-up, to monitor the load and make sure everything is safely within limits! A great, big "Thank you!" to our customer for allowing us to photograph their lift. We love it when we get to see our equipment doing its thing in the real world. #LiftingSolutions #RiggingEquipment #TrusttheLift

We did a quick walk-through in the first aisle in one of our Forestry branches. If you were to visit us here in Salem, Oregon, and you walk through our showroom, this is the first aisle that you see. It's mostly arborists and climbing gear. We have hand saws and pruners, saw heads, lots of scabbards, carabiners, snap hooks, quick links, climbing rated of course, lots of individual pulleys, Lots of different throw lines, throw weights, flip lines in stock as well. Dead eye slings, adjustable lanyards — some guys call those buck straps — climbing pads and spurs and straps, saw lanyards, spencer tapes, chaps, and climbing helmets. #RiggingEquipment #Arborists #TrusttheLift

This simple 3/8" x 13' 6" wire rope sling with thimbled eyes has a special addition — rubber tubing to protect it from cuts and abrasion! The rubber tubing is 4-ply from Continental. Due to its thickness, it's not especially flexible. But in exchange, you get superior resilience. Even though its Working Load Limit (WLL) is only 2400 pounds at 90 degrees, it's going to do some tough lifting. #LiftingSolutions #RiggingEquipment #TrusttheLift

Fiddle blocks are a neat piece of rigging hardware for anyone who needs to quickly and easily raise and lower something from below an elevated anchor point — they are used in shops, barns and even by arborists! This particular unit has a 1,000 lb Working Load Limit (WLL). While some people might just call this a block and tackle, the manufacturers call them fiddle blocks (with a little imagination, they actually do resemble a fiddle/violin). They're great for uplift because they have specially designed teeth that allow you to free the rope or lock it from far below the mechanism. With 50 feet of rope and 5 parts of line, you get about 10 feet of lift (with more rope you can increase the lift height). The 5 parts of line result in a mechanical advantage that makes lifting easier — that's to say, less work for the user. The sheaves (pronounced "shivs") have ball bearings that roll very smoothly. The teeth, mentioned earlier, capture you lifting progress. As you're lifting, if you let go, your load stays in position. Still, once you're desired lifting height is reached, or if you need to take a break, we recommend that you tie off the rope to prevent accidental disengagement. Have you ever used one of these? What for? #LiftingSolutions #RiggingEquipment #TrusttheLift

Most people probably think of outdoor applications for portable winches, but this battery-powered capstan winch is indoor-friendly! We wanted to highlight one of the less common use cases here in our warehouse. If you don't have a forklift, but you need to move something heavy, a winch like this may be a good option. For this demo, we used the kit, which includes an anchor strap, 164 feet of polyester rope, a sling to put around the item you're pulling, and a carabiner to hook the sling to the rope. We tied a basic loop into the end of the rope to put the carabiner through. When using a capstan winch, keep these things in mind: - Anchor the winch to a suitable structural element using properly rated straps or slings; - Load the line in the proper direction; - Apply back tension to the line (essentially, pull with the winch) to maintain proper friction on the drum; - Be sure to not overload the winch (remember that the floor will add friction, effectively increases the overall work the winch has to do. #RiggingEquipment #PortableWinch #TrusttheLift

GrabiQ chain, from Gunnebo Johnson, comes in a distinctive blue finish. As a high-quality, Grade 100 chain, it offers 20% minimum elongation and each link is tested to 2-1/2 times the Working Load Limit. With these great safety features and a 4:1 design factor, it's the perfect choice for overhead lifting! We offer this chain by the foot, and in chain sling assemblies we build to order. Have you used it before?
