Amid recent discussions around Kamala Harris' efforts to engage parts of the Black electorate, I'm resharing this piece I wrote for Foreign Policy in July 2024. In it, I argue that policymakers would do well to move beyond domestic politics and speak to the Black community's longstanding anti-war sensibilities. https://lnkd.in/eq8d6tE3

Vice President, Meridian Center for Diplomatic Engagement --- Advancing Diplomacy on Emerging Tech, Science, Subnational and Space
It was an honor to participate in the Department of State's Office of Global Partnerships Partnership Opportunity Delegation (POD) to Muscat, Oman last week on behalf of Meridian International Center. Titled "Space Technology: An Economic Force Multiplier", the visit assembled American space businesses, academic institutions and non-governmental organizations with our Omani counterparts to explore partnerships in space technologies, services, applications and capacity building. Representatives from SpaceX, Maxar Space Systems, Slingshot Aerospace, Arizona State University, Space Foundation, Planet, and Phantom Space and I uncovered multiple opportunities for collaboration. Furthermore, I found the nation and their people to be quite charming. Oman is a proudly neutral nation geopolitically and one with very little crime. I applaud U.S. Ambassador Ana Escrogima and U.S. Embassy Muscat for partnering with Special Representative for Global Partnerships Dorothy McAuliffe, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and U.S. EXIM Bank on this space diplomacy endeavor. This is exactly the type of program that we should be investing in as a nation as we look to maintain U.S. leadership in space. Meridian is proud to be actively engaged in space diplomacy alongside the State Department, American private sector and our civil society to advance U.S. partnerships, develop international space norms and to democratize space for emerging spacefaring nations like Oman. #PODOman
