🌟 Introducing our first intern, Moorea Bell! 🌟 Meet Moorea! She’s a recent Middlebury College grad with a major in Chinese Studies and a minor in Spanish Studies. Hailing from Washington, D.C., Moorea studied abroad in Taiwan and just finished her research on language policy for ethnic minority groups in China and the impacts of Chinese investments in Nigeria—ask her about her findings! When she’s not immersed in international relations, Moorea is mastering new languages or hitting the weights at her local gym. 🏋️♀️📚 Look out for her on our Slack channels, social media, and at upcoming events. Let’s give her a warm welcome to our community! https://lnkd.in/gTCEbjwb Moorea’s internship wouldn’t be possible without The Helen Gurley Brown BOLD Fellowship dedicated to empowering young women to become leaders in their fields. #WelcomeMoorea #NABEAIntern

🍾 A toast to new beginnings at NABEA’s inaugural Atlanta meetup! Hosted by member Tamorie Mayweather at The Lost Druid Brewery & Distillery, it was an evening of laughter, networking, and forging new friendships. “What I love about NABEA is that I can embrace my passion for Asia as my authentic self without having to explain why,” shared one attendee. Thanks to all who came out to kickoff the Atlanta NABEA community—Tamorie Mayweather, Sandra Jeffrey, Tia Logan, and Nicole Teague. Here’s to many more! 🍻 #NABEA #Atlanta #NABEACommunity #BlackinAsianStudies #CommunityConnection

Off the heels of the ROC's National Day, I am still reflecting on the Taiwan Research Academy's inaugural cohort through the University of Texas at Dallas. Aside from sampling Chinese buffets and studying for war games, we connected with East Asian scholars and even presented proposals on our own academic projects (I focused on energy security). Thankful to all who have sparked a fire for diplomacy in me including Ning Leng, Karl Ho, Giuseppe Peressotti, and Jacklin Wang.
