What do systems of excellence look like for Tier I math instruction?
1. Starts with the why do we even need this, like everything else.
2. Leaders and teachers must be on the same page about how math instruction will be marketed to students.
3. Marketed you say? Yes, marketed. This is why we haven’t captured the attention of many of our students because we haven’t shifted our mindsets. It can’t be about state testing. The results in state testing are the byproducts.
4. The why has to do with being competitive in a global job market where you need to know how to think critically, and problem solve.
5. Student: The job I want doesn’t require math.
6. Educators: The job you want right now may not, but your generation will have 18 different jobs and 6 careers over your lifetime. You have no idea where you will end up? You must be prepared.
In this episode, we discuss what that looks like. Subscribe to our YouTube channel to hear this series. Each week we will unpack this down to classroom instruction.
