a veterinary workplace certification program in diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging. ❤️

About us

blendVET® is a veterinary hospital and academic training certification program in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). Leveraging the knowledge of diverse and recognized leaders with over 200 years of combined experience in the veterinary profession, blendVET® certification is achieved through self-paced modules, hands-on workshops, & personalized facilitated discussions. Why Us: The nationally recognized blendVET® program is the first of its kind to create an inclusive workplace geared towards fostering environments of belonging for teams and clients by providing the very best in DEIB training. Mission: To cultivate thriving veterinary teams that enable individuals to be their authentic selves, build trusting relationships, and belong within a diverse community empowered to increase the pipeline of underrepresented minorities (URMs) within veterinary medicine. While matters of DEIB will not be solved overnight, blendVET® believes that through following specific outlined goals, our profession can begin to understand expectations and modify our behaviors to be a more inclusive and equitable field. We believe environments that celebrate diversity in class, creed, gender, orientation, and ethnicity are the evolutionary points to ignite a positive culture of health and wellbeing!

MILESTONE alert! 🚨 After almost three years, blendVET has become a registered trademark. This has been a labor of love — choosing a name that speaks to what we are trying to achieve in vet med #blendingvetmed and then working with our fantastic lawyer, Deneen Warmington, who walked us through each step of the process and was a constant source of support and guidance. On August 6, 2024, our dream of making blendVET an established entity came true! This is only the beginning for blendVET! Cheers! 🎉 - Niccole Bruno, DVM / Genine Ervin, DVM, MPH

I’m excited to share that I’ve earned my DEIB certification through blendVET! 🤗 This past summer, I had the privilege of being part of the blendVET® Achiever Cohort. I have always been passionate about topics in DEI, so this learning experience was incredibly rewarding. I’m very thankful for the opportunity to engage with this content and community. 🤎

This International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 2024 is focusing on ‘Protecting the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in Voluntary Isolation and Initial Contact’.  Around 200 groups of Indigenous Peoples currently live in voluntary isolation and initial contact. They reside in remote forests rich in natural resources in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Peru and Venezuela. They choose to live detached from the rest of the world and their mobility pattern allows them to engage in gathering and hunting, thereby preserving their cultures and languages. This preservation of these cultures and languages is crucial — and something that we're quickly losing in the US. According to the Administration for Native Americans, Native languages have been in decline for decades; currently Ethnologue lists 245 indigenous languages in the United States, with 65 already extinct and 75 near extinction with only a few elder speakers left. So, with their cultural footprint slowly dwindling, how can we as veterinary professionals be respectful and mindful towards our Indigenous and Native colleagues and clients?  We got the incredible Evelyn Galban, DVM, MS, DACVIM to teach us all about it in our on-demand CE module "Native American Experience and Veterinary Medicine." Get the module here: https://lnkd.in/ghjXhJnS
