About us
The Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative—a program of the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University—is a collaboration between Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard Business School, and Bloomberg Philanthropies. Its mission is to equip mayors and senior city officials to tackle complex challenges in their cities and improve the quality of life of their residents. The Initiative is committed to advancing research and developing new curriculum and teaching tools to help city leaders solve real-world problems. This approach is designed to help unlock the full potential and optimize the performance of cities. If mayors and their organizations thrive, cities can adapt, endure, and thrive as well.

I’m excited to share that I recently graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Education with a Master’s in Education Policy and Analysis; and was selected as a Bloomberg Harvard City Hall Fellow with the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative in the City of Champaign, Illinois! I am beyond thrilled to start my new role in the City Manager's Office with Mayor Deborah Frank Feinen, City Manager Dorothy Ann David, Deputy City Manager Joan Walls, and the rest of the team at the City. Over the next two years, I will be helping identify gaps in departmental data collection and analysis, and contribute to a framework for evaluating the economic and social impact of past and future investments in Downtown Champaign! Continuing to work towards my sincere passion for social justice and youth engagement, I’m looking forward to working with communities and stakeholders in Downtown Champaign. Not only have I been met with such a warm welcome, but I am already making incredible memories (i.e. helping design the "Best Float" of 2024 CU Pride Fest). I want to thank Lindsay Woodson and Snapper Poche from the Bloomberg Harvard Team, as well as the City of Champaign, for this incredible opportunity.

These days, there’s a lot of talk about climate, crime, transit, migration and other big issues. This week, we were glad to bring mayors participating in our Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative program together at #CityLabCDMX to share ideas, build networks, and find new ways to improve lives for residents.

We are gratified to be part of an ongoing learning cycle—studying and learning from cities, developing and publishing rigorous, peer-reviewed research, and sharing insights with other cities around the world. Exciting to hear that Kyiv is making informed decisions about collaborations through insights from the dozens of cities that participated in this research authored by Katharine Robb, Michelle LaPointe, PhD, Kathryn Hemsing, Grant Anderson, and James Anderson. Deputy Mayor & Chief Digital Transformation Officer | Powering Kyiv Resilience and Innovation | Shaping Global Cities through Leadership
Grateful to James Anderson and Bloomberg Philanthropies for their insightful contribution through the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative. The article highlights the crucial role of Inter-City Collaboration (ICC) in tackling shared urban challenges. Although published just a few years ago, the ideas have proven valid as #ConnectedCommunities increasingly form alliances - whether through policy-focused coalitions or operational partnerships - to maximize our shared efforts and build strong #partnerships across the region For #DigitalLeadership, recognizing the different structures and benefits of ICCs is vital for making strategic choices that align with long-term goals and deliver meaningful impact. While Kyiv isn’t mentioned in the article, we have adopted a hybrid approach, utilizing ICC best practices with a focus on advancing #ResilientCities. #BlueprintForTomorrow
