(Sadly, couldn't try them all) 🍄 Matr Foods' Fungi Mince was 💯. I was impressed by the umami taste, texture and the juiciness of the product. Interestingly the bounce is formed by the fungal culture, binding with the organic ingredients. 🍣 Bluana Foods' Plant-based Salmon Poke bowl, super tasty and great to hear their goal to revolutionise plant-based sushi (sorry cucumber & avocado rolls). I missed the smoked salmon bagels at breakfast 🥹, Florin we'll need to arrange a sampling! 🧀 Honestly Tasty's Cheese - Lets say my Christmas charcuterie boards have just levelled up! Their Plant-based Blue and Shamembert are **chefs kiss** (UK people check them out on Ocado Retail) It was a pleasure exploring these innovative products, culinary creations and hearing fellow attendees thoughts, discussed over full stomachs 🍽️ Would love to hear your favourites? Last Thursday wrapped up Future Food-Tech in London, and let’s just say I didn’t leave the summit hungry, though my social energy may require some recharging. 🔋 From insightful conversations on the latest AI applications across the food value chain, to understand how technologies are actually driving food innovation and addressing the big challenges around reducing emissions and decarbonising our food system. The highlights for me included discussing the policy changes needed to stop greenwashing and encourage transparency across the sector, as well as understanding how we can positively shape public perception and drive real change by leveraging both innovation and collaboration. 🌍🤝 During the event, I also had the chance to connect with other passionate startups and brilliant industry experts and leaders. Hearing their stories and understanding the motivations behind their work reminded me of what we can actually achieve when guided by a strong and meaningful purpose. ✨ And what's better than discussing the future of food while actually getting to taste it? Savor’s rich and creamy butter 🧈 and Bluana Foods’ fresh plant-based smoked salmon 🍣🌱 (this is my second time trying it, and it’s that good!) are a few examples of how the industry is proving that great taste and sustainability really work well together! I can’t forget Neggst's plant-based eggs. Last week our Director Prof M. Gulrez Zariwala attended NutrEvent 2024 in Lille, the leading innovation and partnership event in Europe organised by Eurasanté. Prof Zariwala was invited to participate in a roundtable on “How to communicate the science behind supplements and generate consumer trust and acceptance” with industry experts Gregory DUBOURG 🥝 CEO Nutrikeo (Nutrikeo), Odile Capronnier (Biofortis) and Cecile Da Cunha (Ingredia Dairy Experts) in the session sponsored by GenoScreen. The panel had insightful discussions on how best to enhance trust and transparency in the marketplace, allowing companies to stand out while staying true to scientific integrity, with a range of viewpoints from different perspectives. Prof Zariwala was also part of the jury alongside industry leaders Ariane Voyatzakis (Association Nationale des Industries Alimentaires (ANIA), Bernard Pora (Roquette) and Cédric Boisart (4Elements) for the ‘Start-up Slams’ supported by Lesaffre and Rockstart. Exciting projects were pitched across multiple categories: Plant-based food, Food supplements and personalised nutrition, and Feed by Bluana Foods, SwipeBiome, Genbioma, myNUMEA, Calidris Bio etc. An excellent, well-organised event by the NutrEvent team Eline Delcroix, Célestine Fillon, Nicolas Lechevallier, Gautier Noireaux, Mathilde Wozniak et al, we are already looking forwards to attending 2025! #nutrition #nutraceuticals #supplements #clinicaltrials #science
