Shout out to our phenomenal leaders who jumped at the opportunity to participate in our annual Brave the Shave fundraising competition a few weeks ago!   As a result of employee donations and Topical Sno snow cone sales, we raised $3,646 for Brave the Shave, an essential, North Dakota non-profit that provides financial assistance to families of children with cancer and supports critical cancer research. 💙

We were excited to partner with the iconic West Acres Development, LLP (West Acres) for the BCBSND Elevate program, a training series that teaches the importance of holistic well-being for employees. Together, we sparked innovative ideas and creative strategies to help strengthen one of West Acres' best features: their culture of care and vibrancy. Janna Curry, HR manager at West Acres Development, was fascinated with the variety of tools available to tackle workplace well-being during the Elevate program. To her, a culture of well-being is not just something you "put on the shelf" and forget about – it must be acted out daily. "A focus on the well-being and vibrancy of our teams equates to an even more vibrant business," said Janna. "[The BCBSND Elevate program] is a great complement to an already active worksite wellness program, and it is also a great starting point if you are unsure how to begin." Thank you to our community partners FM Redhawks, Bismarck Larks Baseball Club, Minot Hot Tots and Badlands Big Sticks! You all hit a home run with our Strike Out the Stigma initiative! Together, we raised $22,900 for Nexus Family Healing, a statewide provider of mental health support services. We hope you all enjoyed the baseball games and got to cheer on your favorite teams. Thank you for your support and recognition!

July was a fulfilling month as we trekked across the state to promote the value of mental health, clean environments, and our employees. Read more below: Walk to End Alzheimer's Kickoff: July started through us hosting the Walk to End Alzheimer's Kickoff Luncheon at our own HealthyDakota campus. We were joined by over 50 people, including the Alzheimer's Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter and many BCBSND staff to learn all about how to prevent Alzheimer's and what exciting advancements are being made to cure the disease. Fun at the fair: On July 11, our team had the opportunity to take a night at the Red River Valley Fair Association where they enjoyed connecting with coworkers and enjoying great food provided by our BlueSquad. Birthday celebration: On July 13, nearly a dozen of our staff readied their birthday hats and Play-Doh tubs to give away in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Red River Market by Folkways. Clean and green: Our interns worked together to clean up the Red River on July 16 by picking up trash around the Hjemkomst Center and its many trails. Thanks to the River Keepers for this opportunity. And then to the green: To celebrate July 25's National Intern Day, our interns geared up to go for eagle at Fargo's Suite Shots – now that is a fun day on. Lawn fun and games: TNT Kid's Fitness brought over 30 kids to tackle an obstacle course at the HealthyDakota campus on July 29. The children also received free backpacks, BCBSND merchandise, and a nutritious treat. Strike Out the Stigma: And throughout the whole month of July, our team has been traveling across the state to promote mental health awareness with the Badlands Big Sticks Baseball, Bismarck Larks Baseball Club, Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Baseball, and Minot Hot Tots through the Strike out the Stigma campaign. So far, we have raised over $12,000 for Nexus Family Healing in Fargo. We love working with our state to improve health and social outcomes. That is why, as our own celebration, we are thrilled to have announced a new tool that will elevate the member experience. Our new app and web portal, BCBSND.me, is a digital hub that will help make it easier for members to understand and use their benefits. Stay tuned as we prepare to release BCBSND.me on January 1, 2025.
